In the Seattle area some groups make a big deal out of it. Last year the Seahawks had the local tribe bring out their canoes and got the rookies out on the lake paddling around. Saying something like “We only found it fitting that we invite them as our facility is sitting on their land...”
Many of the progressive churches have statements regarding native land too.
“The community of Northminster Presbyterian Church recognizes and grieves for the deep injustices that we, as a community and as an institutional church have inflicted in the past and continue to inflict upon the Indigenous peoples dwelling on this land. As a first step, we wish to acknowledge that our church stands on unceded land and our debt with its original stewards.”
The Indians were squatters...they never bought a damn thing. The world was based on conquering and occupying.
