My position on abortion is not the concern.
And neither is Trump’s statement.
It’s about the Rule of Law (Constitution) and the relationship between the States and the Federal government.
There is a duplicity here, on Trump’s part.
Like leftist progressives, he says one thing and then, when something comes along that he doesn’t like, he speaks against it.
“Let’s let the States decide!”
“Well, except Arizona, who went too far.”
“Let the states decide” is the wrong formula. It should be “let the states enforce.” Abortion, the killing of an innocent child, should be illegal in all the states but it should be enforced, like murder, by the states, not by the federal government. Not every important matter should be federalized. The federal government should limit itself to those matters actually delegated to it in the Constitution.
