Many would have, many young men change their minds quickly when they get in and grow up some and discover their manhood.

Also being drafted did not necessarily mean going to Vietnam, the vast majority of servicemen served elsewhere.

Vietnam was mostly a volunteer’s war.

We had what? 1/3 of a million troops in Germany during the Vietnam war era? 400,000? It was a number in that range, and all armor and heavy/mechanized infantry plus support troops. That’s a serious force.

I knew a guy who was drafted during Vietnam.
He told me that they told his boot camp class that about 10% of them would be going to Vietnam after training.
After training, every last one of the guys in his group went to Vietnam, every one.
