I am sure it was just an innocent oversight but... Foster Hewitt.
And as a teen in NYC and a devoted Rangers fan I would listen to Gallivan on CBM Montreal and Hewitt on CBL Toronto when Rangers played either on a Saturday night as no NY station did their games and Ch9 only did delayed tape. One issue I had and still have was the Canadian style of using the past tense in describing the action. Most American announcers like the great Win Elliot and Jim Gordon use the basketball style present tense. But I recognize the well deserved praise Hewitt and the others earned.

sadly, i never got to hear Foster Hewitt, but all agree he was the example they all followed. I personally thought the Canadian guys were so much better, although there were also great American anonncers as well...
