Thanks, problem being is that I do have a post 85 Mustang. I was considering switching back to the carb system, but after running a few scenarios on my desktop dyno, the numbers were actually a little lower for carb vs. fuel injection(chip). Suprised the heck out of me. I've used this program before and it's always been accurate to real world builds within about 5 HP so I had no reason to doubt it.

I believe the EFI systems can deliver more horsepower, as long as you have proper flow-rate injectors and a sufficient fuel pump to keep them at full working pressure. I've used desktop dyno before, too - it is remarkably accurate. Honestly, carburetors can be a real hassle to keep tuned. EFI is so much superior for real-world driving, however, drag cars can forego the smooth-running attributes of EFI and just use a big honkin' carb (carbs do the WOT thing really well).

What year car do you have? As long as it is a 5.0 or 5.8 Windsor V-8, you do have the option of going "retro". :-)

My '65 Fastback is currently running an '87 5.0 engine, fitted with the old 289 intake manifold and distributor while the 289 is being rebuilt and balanced. *** Note: you've gotta run a Ford Racing Parts/SVO billet steel distributor gear; the roller-cam engines have steel camshafts that will chew up older engines' cast iron distributor gear.*** There are a few other early/late parts interchange issues, but it can be done.

I have a 95 5.0 convertible. Bored 30 over, 2.02 heads, and getting ready to change the cam. Changed the pistons out to JE pistons. Edelbrock recommends with their heads, now get this, the Ford Z303, not the E303, with a .552 lift. I personally think that's too high and will probably stick with a lower cam. Changed out the MAF and throttle body, but to tell the truth I'm thinking about going to a 75 mm throttle body, even though I'm running the 70. Had a chip programmed especially for the car, and currently running 24 lb fuel injectors. Dyno is right around 410 to the ground with different headers and mufflers. No smog pump, no converters either.
