Was that a real snake?

Okay, here's the deal. My husband (at the time boyfriend) and I went down to get a certificate of common-law marriage for tax reasons---we heard that it would make it easier for him to claim me on the returns or some such thing, I don't recall.
The clerk said, "You know the common law certificate cost just as much as a real marriage certificate, might as well do the real thing."
So my sweetie said, "You wanna?" I said "Sure, why not?" So we went upstairs and got hitched by the JP. At least I wasn't wearing jeans at the time....:-P

Nope. Darth excused himself from the reception area with the excuse that he wanted to take off his jacket and put it in his car,something like that. It took an awfully long while for him to get back, but when he did, he whispered in my ear: "I got a snake up my sleeve"...and I'm thinking "You got a what????" For a moment there I actually thought that he took the time to look for a real snake outside. How else can one explain his long absence? For the while, before he pulled the "garter" from under the Brides dress, he was walking around, holding his arm down, stiff and straight, trying to prevent the toy "garter snake" from falling out of his sleeve. :-)
