Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America. And we always have fun doing it. Hoo-yah!

I don't see Republican here. I'd vote for a conservative/libertarian Dem over a RINO any day of the week. I might even vote for an honest, liberal Dem over a corrupt, conservative Reublican. (None of this will EVER happen in my state, BTW)

I didn't know Darth, but I read his posts (I don't agree w/ the Erskine Bowles thing), but nothing he said was THAT bad.

I would vote for a conservative Dem over a true RINO( if the Senate wasn't up for grabs I mean. I would prefer Tom Finneran run things in Mass then Jane Swift) but I'd take a corrupt conservative over an honest liberal if such a thing as an honest liberal exist.

First, there's no such thing. The Democratic Party is hopelessly corrupt. A Dem who claims to be "conservative/libertarian" is lying.

over a RINO any day of the week.

Second, even if there were such thing as a "conservative/libertarian" Dem we are talking about control of the Senate or House. A vote for any Dem is a vote for either Gephardt or Daschle. This cannot be disputed. And voting for these guys is voting against America.

It might make sense to vote for a Dem for a state or local race, but not for control of the federal government.

I'd vote for a conservative/libertarian Dem . . .

Of course you would. A great many libertarians here would. I've been making that point for many months here.

BTW, with the possible exception of Sen. Zell Miller, "conservative Dem" is an oxymoron--espicially when the election of a Dem of any kind would ensure that the Senate is kept under Democrat control.
