The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Well, I'd visit, but... I went to evening service tonight so I've had no time today to get ready for classes tomorrow, and I've got to get stuff done. The good news is I'm getting the hardware I need off ebay and my computer will be up full time pretty soon.

"But gollum-boy showed up with a "no war for oil" poster.... "

Yeah, glad his character dies.

You know, Lil'freeper, I am sure he realizes perfectly well that he is aligning himself with Saddam.

Somehow, the Left feels they must do this to oppose (our champion, everyday though he is) W, and keep their dream of socialism alive.

Cute pics. Cute cat. I have a technique that has always worked for me. I keep a pocket of cookies or hot dog pieces, what ever they like alot, and several times a day I say the word 'cookie' in a high pitched kinda happy voice. And when they come they get their snack. Then, when they are in those situations all I have to do is holler cookie in that voice and they come running. Even if I have nothing, they find out too late, Gotcha.

That is what I recommended she do, but even more intense as a corrective action. I told her to put the dog's entire daily ration of food in her pocket each morning for the next week or so, and feed him *nothing* that doesn't come from her hand when he comes to her. Within a day or two she will have his complete attention all the time. He is not obstinate, but scared.

My friend the pro dog trainer who takes in adult dogs that are strangers for training as police dogs, uses that method to get a new dog's attention. Within a day, he is their everything.

The Oscars were not really that bad, almost all behaved, and the decorum made Michael Moore look like such an ass that even Hollywood booed him.

Silver lining:

Joan Rivers talking with Sean Astin. When Sean Astin, wearing a flag pin, was asked to send a message to our troops overseas. He said:

~"Before the fighting started, I prayed on bended knee for peace. Now, though, I am praying on bended knee for peace AND victory. Come home safe and bless you all."

I saw on PMSNBC the report about Michael Moore being booed. Did he win for "Bowling for Columbine"? I figured he would; that is just too juicy a target for the Hollywood libs.

Great to hear about the Oscar for Sound Editing for TTT. Hate to hear about Andy Serkis; why can't they just keep their damn traps shut?

Mornin' All.

How quickly we've been reminded that "War is Hell."

I am not discouraged. I'm saddened at our loss. And I'm pissed off at the mediots for making it sound like we're losing.

God, be with our troops.

...was it supposed to be 9 pm Eastern time?

Yeah, I thought I mentioned it would be at 9pm EST. Oh well, I hung out until about 9:30 and then I figured you were busy driving around with Rose.

Well, hopefully we'll be able to meet up again and try this out. My in-laws will be arriving in town this week sometime along with all their stuff so I will probably not be able to give it another try until they get into a house of their own since the computer is in the room that we will be giving them to use.

Thanks for trying Bear. Have a great week. ;^)

Good morning! Yeah...gorgeous here, too. Sunny skies and it's starting out at 40, so we'll probably get temps in the 60s today!

On the downside, I got another bug / cold on top of the one I already had, and I feel pretty wretched. Didn't call in sick, but maybe I'll take off early. And I'm not too sick to practice fiddle and read news...

Hair, if you get another cat you can name him "Tenor" then you'd have the beginning of a kitty choir.

We got home from church yesterday afternoon and turned on Cartoon Network for the boys while my wife made dinner. My youngest, Jacob(6), was laying on the couch feeling pretty miserable because of his allergies.

They were watching Tom & Jerry and Jerry was in a posh restaurant and was dancing with the table decorations which were little dolls. While Jerry was doing that we here Jacob say from the couch to no one in particular, "Jerry is sooo romantic."

I nearly choked on my sandwich. Sometimes I worry about that boy. ;^)
