Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Dig some of every perenial you have and bring them with you. Dang! I forgot to pot those chives yesterday. Dug some up from The House to plant at my house.

If I say "meanwhile" during the movie will he[Astin]
laugh?He'll probably say "PFFFT!!"
BTW, I'm glad everything turned out alright with that guy climbing your fence.
........And I have plenty of witnesses, I was nowhere NEAR Washington state that night.

I tried something new this year. I grew chives from seed. I always bought starters or divided. But, I only have one clump here and I left it potted until way late in the fall last year so it's small. The seed stuff looks okay.
But, now, you have to pot yours that you dug. They're bigger and would be better.

Just got word... my retirement orders just came in... Excellent news, g'nad! Good to hear!

I'm sorry, I'm catching up from the weekend still and I have to funkle again. About the Corin family's decorating tastes.
I'm gonna put some sort of funky finish on them. We've decided that we know we're not the Ethan Allen type, so why not be who we are. Lots of color and "interesting" things.
:-) You fit right in at my house!!! I love every bit of that plan! I could do your gardening if ya'll could come do funky finishes and color for me. I hate painting and refinishing and stuff like that.

I love every bit of that plan! I could do your gardening if ya'll could come do funky finishes and color for me. Well, part of it is just us. Most of what we have is hand-me-down stuff. Although we have some really cool pieces. I have a "pie safe" that was my great-grandmothers and my wife has the pump organ that her grandfather bought her grandmother 80 years ago. It never left the home place until it came to us last year.
My wife likes to collect "old things" (that being one of the reasons she keeps me around). But she has a great collection of old kitchen items, old blue ball jars, ruby glass, etc. Not just old for the sake of being old, but old stuff that was used and has meaning behind it. We have that country look, but not the cutesy that comes along with it.
I don't get to paint as much as I'd like. I did Jr's room in red, white and blue a number of years ago. And Luke's room was a fairy tale nursery with a castle that will translate to a little boys room (here in the next couple of weeks). I still need to finish stripping wallpaper in their bathroom. But I'm working on an underwater (fishes) theme.

Wheeee!
Now how do I pay the bills?
