The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I'm here! We ate supper then I took the boys outside and watched them ride their bikes and I played my whistle.

I want a Hummer.
I don't want an H2 or even a fancy-pants H1. I want a real Hummer like the one on my profile page.
I wonder if they sell them like military surplus?

I guess they didn't look at the women's FACES during auditions, huh?I guess they only looked at the women's cheeks....
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
Um...why do I get the feeling you aren't talking about the facial type?

On the other hand, if you get stuck in traffic, you can just drive over it. So I suppose there ARE benefits.
To: RosieCotton
I'm not ever gonna get a Humvee. They make them and then the DoD has a contract to have them periodically refurbished and re-used.
Sigh.
I would like a little VW Bug though...

LOL... if you had seen the USA Network production of "Helen of Troy", you would have no doubt that I wasn't talking about the facial type. ;)

My mother has a Bug. It's bright yellow with white daisy wheels. It frightens me.
Hi all! Choir was good. Now I'm home for a bit. What's going on?

2J and I are trying to do Fiddler's chord on whistles.
To: JenB
What's going on? Bear's talking about Helen of Troy's...cheeks. And 2J wants a Hummer.
And I gotta do laundry or wear something only sorta dirty again tomorrow.
Should have started a wash BEFORE choir practice, but I didn't.

I tried that piece - I like it! I've never heard those things called "fiddler's chords" before, though it IS a lot easier on the fiddle. You bounce between an open string and another string, so I only have to finger one string instead of switching between fingerings like you have to do on whistle. If that makes sense!

Mom's is a New Beetle. It's much.... rounder.
Hey, uh, would it be rude to announce now that my birthday is Thursday, May 1st? It's my 20th...

I didn't try that piece but I have almost the same thing with Fleur de Mandragora (pardon my french): the first reel on Track 6 of Lunasa. It has a trill instead of the triplet.
To: RosieCotton
Not a bit, but that's what John said...easy for a fiddle, hard for a whistle. Neat little tune, though, huh?
I like the one OT sent me...Fleur De Mandragore, none the worse for it's french title.
