Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I personally love fireworks, all the noise and smoke, even the colors, are great.
I just wish they didn't injure so many folks, but they do.

Oh - people will always find ways to injure themselves in the name of fun.... the danger of that is probably part of the rush.
I decided something though.... while I was standing outside listening to the sounds of war and worrying for the critters who could not possibly understand it, that perhaps it helps a bit to re-train the adventurous wildlife about the dangers of suburbia, and I was thinking that having a few packets of firecrackers would perhaps do the trick with Becky's coyote if they were spotted more frequently. Maybe, maybe not. I haven't seen my doe and fawns or my coyotes since Friday.

Hair: looks like you opted for the cuppa Jo instead of the rack. Glad you could visit with WN, you're good people, Hair.
Sue doesn't care for the noise of the fireworks, but does enjoy the visuals of the display, unfortunately there isn't a "mute" button on the outdoor live displays. I tend to get bored rather quickly with just watching them. I like the tv ones with 'stars and stripes' etc. playing along. A more complete package as it were.
There is a KS/MO mini-moot in the works. OT will be getting in early afternoon. Will let you know more as it progresses.

When my brothers and me were much younger we used to have fights with M-80's, which were reasonalbly powerful for small fireworks.
We'd tape rocks on to them so we could throw them farther, at each other. Then we'd get on the farm pond in the boats we had there, and have naval battles.
I actually sunk the pedal boat that 2 of my brothers were on. I tossed an M-80 at it, and it blew up just as it hit the water, right next to a pontoon, holing it. They made it back to the dock, where the thing began slowly developing port list.
I can see why those things hurt people when they blow up in their hands and stuff. Lucky we didn't hurt injure each other, I guess, makes you wonder how we survive very long.

I hope someone takes pictures of your moot! You guys will have a grand time I am sure!
I like the TV versions of fireworks too..... no crowds to fight on the way out that way either, whether by boat or by car, the crowds leaving those events take some of the shine off the thing for me!
WN and I were up till 3 my time, 5 her time I think, so I only slept 4 hours before getting up to tend the ponies. I reserve the right to hit the rack at some point during the day. :~D

Hey ksen, can we set off fireworks on the beach at Entmoot? ;-)I don't see why not. We can aim them over the ocean.

Nice to hear from you W. Thanks Sam. I too think this will turn out to be a more short term exciting venture for Myranda. The main part that bothers me is that I think her sister is getting her for slave labor. And yet, perhaps she needs the slave labor experience. :-)

WN: glad you made it back safely.............Maybe a long ride on the Harley is in order. he he he.... you echoed my sentiments exactly. But, I have to be smart right now. I need a little maintenance before taking it out so I will wait. Primary oil all leaked out. Need to get the leak fixed and then I think I will spend some time on the road mending my loss. (might be time to visit 2J or something.)

I am doing some needed domestics.... Trying to maintain the lifestyle I strive to be accustomed to! Well, I brought home 3 boxes of stuff from Grama's attic. As well as other knickknacks stuffed in with clothing. I have brought about half my stuff in from the truck and put it up. Trouble is..... finding a place for the stuff. And looking at it all while I'm unpacking it. So, I wander aimlessly thinking "where do I put this?"

Hey girl! I was remembering you and Grama at Mass yesterday. Yeah, I heard that with the family thing! So glad you're back. I'm glad you thought of us. Grama is in the best place now. :-) And I know all the things she would tell me to do now with my life so I'm getting at it.
I'm heading out to New Hampshire to hike the Flume with SSQ and the kids.
And this sounds like one of the things that Grama would tell me to get out and do.
Actually, during the 3-1/2 hour drive home last night I was making a mental note of things that I need to get busy and do now. First is, start learning to fly. I have a good friend who is a flight instructor and has said he will start me off with the book stuff.
Second of all, I need to find an awesome place to go bungee jumping.
Third, go a bike ride to Alaska. God has already been working on that one because another friend of mine told me last week that she is getting ready to make that trip in a year or two. And I feel that I need to not do that alone so that sounds like God's timing.
And then there is hiking the Guadalupe trail in west Texas/New Mexico and sky diving. All these things I have not done while raising kids either for safety or financial reasons. So, NOW is the time!!!

Yeah, Jeanne just asked me to fire up the smoker. Gee, I wish I could show up at your house this afternoon. I'd even help with the cooking to get some of those goodies!!!
