The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

That was a cool post number.

I had to go back and see what it was, but you're right! OK, I'll try to get the commentary done today and post the Frodo pics.

I forgot to tell you, we were at Eastern Mountain Sports last weekend looking at kayaks and Clare found a cool t-shirt. It is a brick red with pair of hiking boots printed on it, and under the boots it reads "Not all who wander are lost"! Cool, huh? I got that one for myself, and a different one for Clare that she like even better. I'll try to find a picture of hers. Here's the design of mine, though this is on a tan shirt.

I understand.

We gave our upright freezer to the church yard sale. Some time before spring break last year, Jr. got some ice cream out and didn't close it all the way. So when I went out to get something a few days later, there was about 6 inches of frost. I got that cleaned up, but we lost everything inside and it ruined the seal. I was going to replace it, but my m-i-l is bringing her freezer when she moves in and it's in better shape.

The handle broke on our dryer. I need to call Sears and see if I can order a replacement (stopping to write that down...). Should be able to snap it right in. Meanwhile, we're popping the door with a screwdriver...

I sometimes get discouraged about all the stuff I have to do, then I remind myself that, if it's gonna take another 15 years to pay for the house, I've got some time to get things done.

Morning everyone!

2J - how exciting that your fridge will be arriving today! We can hardly wait for this insurance thing to be over and done with so we can get our new fridge. I'm giddy with excitement over having ice and water on the door! LOL!! Becky can serve herself finally!

OK, let me get breakfast on here.

I've got some time to get things done.

Very true.... Or we could all get hit by a meteor, and we probably won't mourn the fact that we never got around to fixing the handle on the dryer.

Good morning everyone!

I couldnt' find a picture of the "Life is Good" shirt I got for Clare by itself, but it is in this group of t-shirts. It is the one on the left in the second row. It is the little doggie holding a mashmallow over the campfire. Isn't that just the cutest thing? It is same color as mine with the hiking boots.

There used to be a great bakery there on that square in New B. Made the best colaches!

Oh man, I just love those pastries!! My cousins' Hungarian (on their Daddy's side) grandmother used to make those. It would take her half a day, and she'd use the entire dinner table to lay out the dough.

I found a recipe online not too long ago, and even found some prune filling to use in them.

I am too excited to eat breakfast this morning! I have flutterbies!

Ecurbh, I hope you don't mind me just sayin' it.....

Ecurbh is coming to visit in September! He decided (impulsive!) to come out and go with me to the James Taylor concert in Vancouver!

You don't think the delivery guys will want to see the receipt do you???

One of the receipts was a $50 rebate to mail in!

Think they'll give us another copy???

Yeah, it is, Now I gotta lose enough weight so it will fit around my fanny! Maybe if I did more hiking and less freeping, huh? Nah! That's no fun!!

Cool that ecurbh is coming out to visit. He's a nice guy, and a great sport. He let me drag him to the Boy Scout picnic so we'd have some time to visit before the movie. He got to meet several of my friends who weren't surprised in the least that he was an online Tolkien chat friend. They can always expect something 'different' from me! ;o)

Same here! Of course, now I have to make sure I can get the time off. I'll go into the office today or tomorrow and check into it.

I have the James Taylor Greatest Hits CD. The one thing that's missing at the site you linked is the HARMONY!! That's one of my favorite parts of JT's songs; the close harmony!
