One person asked him for spoilers from RoTK... and he made a couple of sword motions and said "I get to fight a spider!" Laughter. I think the audience wanted more than that!
Talked about how it was so hard to relate to the project as three different films, because they mixed them all up filming... he said the closeups on Sam for a RoTK scene might be filmed one day, and then 8 or 9 months later, they would film the closeups on Frodo for the same scene and they would have to watch the dailies to remember what it was.
It would be so hard to understand the plot of the whole story if you hadn't read it, they way they mixed it up.

Wow, Hair...this sounds like so much fun. Took your mind off the war a bit, eh? Back to the way it was before, when all we did was sit around talking about this stuff.

HOD: Thanks so much for the review; sounds like a great time was had by all. Sean seems to be a level headed young man who would be an asset to any profession that he decided to do; luckily he chose acting. Hope to see him in other films but I'm afraid he'll be Samwise Gamgee to me.
To: osagebowman
I think he will always be Sam to me too. I saw Memphis Belle, another film of his, too, but I haven't seen it since he became Sam. I never have seen Rudy, that everyone else talks about.

Wow, great report! Thanks.
I never have seen Rudy, that everyone else talks about.
You still haven't seen it? That is a must-see, and one of my personal top-ten movies. And it's only $12.99 at Amazon.

Wonderful report. Wish I could have gone too. The more I learn about Astin the more I like him. We need more like him in our modern politics. How like Sam he is.
To: HairOfTheDog
he said "If PJ won't do it, I might." Now, wouldn't THAT be fitting!?
To: HairOfTheDog
I would like to photograph him standing in unexpected places. I think it would be a fun album!A 'Middle Earth' Tourist Guy?
Thanks for the report from the event. Sean sounds like such a neat guy!

And what did you think of his film? Sorry if I missed it, where you have already said. I'm curious what to expect of his project 'Galveston'. It is a great, if tragic, story. Everyone here knows of that terrible storm. I'm really glad someone has taken it on as a movie idea.

That was enjoyable, reading about Sam Gamgee. It's nice to know he is a nice fellow.

I recently read a fascinating book about that Galveston storm. There was one in the Keys in 1935 that was even more powerful I believe, though perhaps it did less damage, as there was less on the islands. Still killed thousands, I believe. They say the sand was blowing around so hard that it lit up the ground with waves of sparks. A barometer on Matecumbe measured 26.55 inches, shocking to me.

There have been worse storms for sure. I believe it was the worst, or one of the worst, in regards to loss of life. The place looked like Hiroshima, afterwards. :)
All kinds of info on the internet about it.
Remembering the 1900 Storm ...
On September 8, 1900, a hurricane struck Galveston. Winds estimated at 140 mph swept over the island, leaving devistation in their wake. After the storm surge of 15.7 feet subsided, Galvestonians left their shelters to find 6,000 of the city's 37,000 residents dead and more than 3,600 buildings totally destroyed.
The 1900 Storm is still considered to be the deadliest natural disaster in U.S. history. After the storm, Galveston constructed a seawall and raised the grade of the island to protect it from future hurricanes.

There was one in the Keys in 1935 that was even more powerful I believe, Is that the one that destroyed Flager's railroad that used to go from Miami to Key West?
