300WM: great post, quite appropriate for the times we are seeing now.

Tolkien had a great grasp of the power of good and evil. I was watching the news today, and said to myself, "self, this looks like something I've already read about".

However, I can't equate Saddam and his army of orcs to be the equal of Sauron and his minions. While equals in evil, Saddam's gang is far more cowardly and ineffectual. The only "bravery" we've seen is the equivalent of "suicide by cop".

However, I'm getting pissed off by the continuing references to "elite republican guards". When we're through with them, will we have to fight the super-elite SPECIAL republican guard?

I got some newbie Freeper posting freepmails to me, calling me Jessica and telling me how proud she is of me! I told her I wan't Jessica Lynch, but she wrote me back and thanked me again for my service to the country!!
