Just hours after Operation Iraqi Freedom began, forces loyal to Saddam Hussein launched the first Scud missile of this war. The Scud is a missile banned from Iraq by the UN Security Council, is a missile Iraq claims it doesn’t possess and is a missile that Hans Blix and his band of Keystone Inspectors couldn’t locate.
However, the Scud is nothing compared to the 100 acre chemical weapons facility discovered in An Najaf, 90 miles south of Baghdad. This facility, the size of 75 football fields, also managed to escape the notice of Hans Blix.
The next sound we should hear is the collective apology from Hans Blix and other Saddam apologists, from Phil Donohue to Sean Penn to Ted Kennedy to Peter Jennings, and, of course, France, Germany and Russia, which swore that Iraq posed no threat.
That’s the Point.
