Jessica Lynch - Needs a heros welcome.

Not sure if this has been suggested but: How do we organize a line the streets type welcome for Jessica on her return trip home? Not just in her town, (which I think they have covered) but along any routes she would take to get there. I think it would be nice.

I don't live in that area but think it's a wonderful idea.

why? did she cure cancer? or are you talking about the young woman who got caught -- in which case if there's a parade due, it's for the people who rescued her.

It just might make her feel worse since her buddies didnt make it...
Something quiet and peacefull might be better for her...for now

Because I think she deserves it. You don't have to come and rain on her parade.

Jessica Lynch - Needs a heros welcome.

I'd sure like to see something done for the guy that told us where she was, and his family.

Sounds good, but should probably try to find out how she feels about it - she might feel more lucky to be a live than heroic. The stories have been contradictory enough without putting her and her family in an uncomfortable situation. Some kind of wide-spread support is surely in line though.

Take what you want and leave the rest - just putting my "obstructionist" 2 cents in...

God Bless

Perhaps we could have the National Organization of Women (NOW) sponsor a rally at the Augusta shindig. (sarcasm). So far those people haven't even thought of sending a real woman a get-well card.

I think it would be nice.

So it would be for ALL of our injured soldiers.

Why not organize something for them?

I fully expect to have a good parade for all that served once this is over. We had a good on for the first one.

No, but she did empty her weapon at the enemy and suffer many injuries while fighting for your country.

**I'd sure like to see something done for the guy that told us where she was, and his family. **

He, his wife and daughter are in refugee status with the US Military. God bless him for risking so very much to help in PFC Lynch's rescue. :o)

There are untold others who deserve a hero's welcome as well...but Special Ops doesn't normally give out names ,etc. Covert operations.

I just read the story about him and his wife. They were brave, kind, loving people. It makes me have hope that someday Iraq can have the peace they deserve. I certainly agree that something special should be done for the whole family.

I think CJ is concentrating on PFC Lynch due to the area he/she lives. It is important for all of us to support and encourage our troops, especially where we reside.

This is just my opinino, but frankly, after what she's been through, I'm not sure she would want a celebration. I sure wouldn't. All those people babbling about how she suffered and asking her to tell them how it was; it's very nice, but it would immerse her in some very ugly memories. Such events and adulation can be hard to endure, and the come-down in the years to follow, left alone to face the reality of living the rest of her life with those memories, can lead to depression. She needs long term support and a focus for the future.

I'd bet she'd rather be greeted with a scholarship to earn her teaching credential to get that job offer in her home town as a kindergarten teacher she said she always wanted. Let her hang with the kids, get married, have babies, and heal. If FReepers really wanted to help, perhaps arranging that scholarship or a stipend to get started after graduation would be a better gift.

If the president gave us an address to send money, the very generous citizens of the US would very quickly and hapily make he and his family millionaires.

Yes PFC Lynch deserves a Heros welcome.. As do ALL the troops.. I don't want to minimize her ordeal at all, She is indeed lucky to be alive and I'm sure fought bravely.

I here reports of a University giving her a scholarship, and a Car dealership is going to give her a car.. I hope she turns them down.. True Heros and Patriots do not expect anything in return when they are fighting for what is right. She survived the ordeal.. others did not... They signed on to do a job.. Just as I did between 89-92... I would find it more of a cause to help give citizenship to those members of the military who are serveing yet havn't been granted it yet.. Yes there are cases where we have non-citizens serving in our armed forces.. In fact Rick Levntahl on Foxnews is embedded with a group who has a serviceman in this situation..

PFC Lynch should be honored.. but not raised above the other brave men and womeon over there..

The governor of WV personally drove to the Lynch home the day after she was rescued and told the family that there would be a full scholarship awaiting her which she could use at any WV college of her choice. Good on him!

Will he do this for every Service person from WV who was in combat action?
