Evening folks.
"Tis a foolish man who builds his house upon the sand." (If anyone knows the chapter and verse this biblical quote comes from, let me know...I heard it in that galactically nonsensical Hollywood boondoggle, "Volcano"...)
Folks, for the first time in at least 30 years, the ground moved by itself at or around 5:00 AM this morning in the South. A 4.9 temblor gently shook Lady Horsie, myself, and our faithfull canine companion awake. In the Cereal State, or as it is also called, The Land of Fruits, Nuts, and Flakes, they call it "a foot massage". Down here, where instead of sand for the earth beneath our feet, we have clay and granite, and most people barely noticed it, even the epicenter was 200 or so miles away. In the media frenzy that ensued, I have learned that a fault line does indeed extend from the southern tongue of the Smokey Mountains, south till it meets the Chattahoochee, which it then follows down about to interstate 285, where it takes a westward turn into north central Alabamistan. I also learned that we have these little seismic events every 186 million years or so, and they usually precede a much stronger shake. So in this respect at least, something like this relates to baseball, because after all, 186 million years, very much like Vinnie's AB streak of last year without a HR, signifies and geologically affirms the axiom:
"He's due."
What was it like for yours truly you ask my friends? Well it sounded very similar to the vibration one might feel if a train goes by very fast outside the hotel window you might find yourself in if you were trying to find the cheapest hotel in Boise ID...But I digress...again.
So again my three day panic attack over watching Druw patrol CF in Houston, with that abominable, foccocta Hill begins all over. Egads folks, it's like a nightmarish dream that recurs several times every year. In my dream I see....nevermind. Initiate the nicotine/alcohol delivery system of your choice. Two men lean in from the high ground tonight:,p>
Maddux vs. Oswalt.
Lineups to follow...
Kibbitz...

We were two miles east of the fault line, just east of Barstow, during the Landers Calif. 9.6 shaker in 92. Funny how a full size Chevy PU will bounce off the ground given the right impetus.
