Dog Chews Off Sleeping Man's Toes (Didn't satisfy; dog really wanted steak)

An Arizona man's dog didn't live up to being man's best friend, NewsChannel5 reported.

While sleeping, Frank Monarrez's dog chewed off three of his toes. Because he is diabetic, he didn't feel a thing.

"The doctor even said she's been doing this for years and never seen a case like this in her life, never. This is the first time she's seen anything this bad," Monarrez said.

He is an amputee and his dog Baby D could have made him a double amputee, but he is handling the situation well. He said his entire foot could have been gnawed off.

"It's laughable after the fact, but it wouldn't be laughable if it's more serious and I had to end up having my foot amputated then I'd be a double amputee and that's one thing I didn't want," he said.

Baby D has been quarantined. The county will keep her for 10 days and then she is likely to be returned to Monarrez's son.

HMB/Bizarre PING....

If you want on or off this list, FReepmail me!

FYI: This has fast outgrown it's original "charter" and become a home for the truly bizarre. An alternative saying/phrasiology is being sought (and suggestions are very welcome!). Also, like it's "cousin list" the B/C list, it has become a high-volume list.
I'm leaning toward "Just damn," on the suggestion of quite a few folks. I won't make a decision until Sunday. (And thanks to all of you for sending your suggestions!)

I'd hate to see what the dog does when awake.

That really is amazing--a dog that can eat while it's sleeping!

Doesn't sound like much of a meal to me. Where's PETA when you need them?

That's why I have cats. I'm diabetic.

For good or ill, my particular form of Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy involves intense pain (too much sensation) rather than numbness (too little).

Or for that matter, where's AETP?

Don't be so sure. I have 5 cats. When I lived in Japan, I met a guy who was terrified of the cats. I had to keep them away from him whenever he came over. He was from NYC and it seems that when he was younger, an old woman in his neighborhood died in her apartment with cats and let's just say that they didn't go hungry for long. He was terrified of the idea of cats eating human flesh. Basically, I think that any animal, if hungry enough, will start to eat their owner if they don't react.

Any carnivore. I'm sure that a pet rabbit wouldn't try to eat you no matter how hungry it gets.

I agree ... I listen to the radio all day and night, and they never referred to a story like this!
