RENO, Nev. (AP) -- Police pulled over a man on a bar stool - after a slow-speed pursuit on one of Reno's busier streets.

It started Monday when an officer saw a man riding the motorized bar stool at 35 mph. He was being followed closely by a woman in a Mustang.

Both driver and rider were pulled over.

The woman told police she had been on the phone with a dispatcher reporting the bar stool stolen.

The owner of the bar stool confirmed that the stool, powered by a small engine, had been taken three weeks earlier.

Jarrett Orcutt, 22, said he had bought it a little over a week ago, thinking it was a toy and added that he had driven it between Reno and nearby Sparks several times. Police estimate its value at more than $1,000.

Orcutt faces Reno charges of possession of stolen property, possession of drug paraphernalia and numerous traffic violations.

Sparks police are handling the stolen vehicle report.

possession of drug paraphernalia

Huh? Almost anything that can be construed as 'paraphernalia' also has other uses(Hell, I've made a pipe out of an apple). Since there were no actual drugs mentioned, on what grounds could they assume that it was 'drug paraphernalia? I guess they just need to boost the 'drug related crime' statistics.

In my neighboring town, there is a small engine repair shop that often leaves riding lawn mowers out between repairs. During business hours, a local character (an achondroplastic dwarf who imbibes on occasion) got tanked up and took one of the lawn mowers on a joy ride around this town of about 4500 people. Eventually, the LEOs caught up with him and arrested him for stealing the mower. In fact, the business man stood up for him and just laughed about the whole thing. The little guy was drunk and so upset about the incident that he threatened suicide and was admitted to the local psychiatric unit where I saw him on call. Needless to say, I discharged the following morning when he sobered up.

Fly #1 to fly #2: Pardon me, is this stool taken?

Question, will this be on a future episode of 'Reno 911'?

Reminds me of a joke!
John Kerry drives into a bar on a motorized barstool.
The bartender says "Why the long face?"
