The Catholic school my daughter went to allowed talking, but not screaming or anything like that. They just made the disruptive kids eat in a small room off the cafeteria. Usually they didn't disrupt any more after being made to eat alone.

i guess bc this school has 800 kids and a tiny cafeteria and they have half hour shifts for lunch starting from 11 am til 12:30 or 1:00pm, they have to move them in, GET THEM TO EAT and then move them out. i think that they expect the socialization to take place at recess. they want them eating during this time. truly i have seen kids there barely eat a thing in the alloted time, bc they are too busy chattering and socializing. then they have to keep going til 3pm. i am just saying that i can see, in practical terms, since i am picturing the St James lunchroom, why they did this and it doesn't make them nazis or child haters, which is being implied on that thread.
