~The Dragon Flies Lair~
Poets | August 27, 2003 | bentfeather

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guides
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and I...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Correction:

Nay this and nay that
She said to me
With each phrase
She set me free

I see on your tagline
Two good lines of prose
Written by a master
In two lines, it shows

Where now the horse and the rider?
Where is the horn that was blowing?

Is this not then, the appointed time?
Perhaps, we have no way of knowing.

I hate it when that happens
I feel like such a schmuck
A double post because of a twitch
Is a terrible stroke of luck

ah she set you free...
did she?
These words I give to thee.

Sentimental scenes
picture thoughts with you
in my memory and
loving you is my desire
very still...

I feel like such a schmuck
without much luck
a double post is not
the day lost
nay a fluke of internet mystery
is to blame

...My heart is,
As I sit here and wait
In my mind.
Playing the scene
Again and again
From our dream...

Of when I
Walked on a cloud
And entered
your gate

Of when I
Walked on a cloud
And entered
your gate

Through the swinging gate
I take my flight without
thought of
constraining folk
or reining in a spirit free
oh air of freedom sing to me
in early morn or dusks dim light
shed the scales binding thee
Let poetry sing...
far wide and filled with glee
Sing your song poet
you are free

Ha ha ha!
You make me laugh
When so
on the mark
you hit

I don’t knoweth
If I can taketh it
To the level
That you
speaketh of

There is a wall
Around this fire
For a reason
My dearest

Nevertheless
It is true
I do feel
somewhat free

And I liketh
Very Much
Hearing the
Words from thee!

Reptiles and Insects

See the Dragon fly!
But where does he go?
Or is it a she-dragon?
How would one know?

Does the Dragon Lie?
Then the Dragon is a liar!
Where is this lair of a liar?
Or does the Dragon just lay?

If this Dragon,
All spiney and gray,
Comes a dragging this a-way,
What can I tell it?
What can I say?

Does the Dragon roar,
As in folk tales?
Or does it just slither
Along on its scales?

It would be so simple,
So quiet and serene,
If only this reptile
Was an insect instead.

Oh tortured
Invasion of
Nightmare into dream

It can’t be so
NO NO NO

When I in my mind
see this dragon fly,
reposed in her lair

I have visions of
Her Beauty, charm
And no bugs are there!

awwww you sing in riddle poet
just like me

yes, I sing my songs wild and free
teachers and preachers bother me
And this wall of fire constraining thee
what is this thing you speak of poet
some vow made long ago
that holds no water in the now
save only the oath uttered low
one summer eve years ago

Fire does drive an engine, tis true
and I ask who art thou poet
guarding your bones by fire
better yet in pale dewy moon light
blinking fireflies shining bright
lighting up the darkest night
and taking wing for delight

The reason is the mystery, bard
hard fast rules listen true
I break them all as a rule
to me that's freedom wide
aways I lose some hide on my ride

PS last lines meant to rhyme only..
do not take heart!!

The rest of it is..

Where now the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing?
Where is the helm and the hauberk, and the bright hair flowing?
Where is the hand on the harpstring, and the red fire glowing?
Where is the spring and the harvest and the tall corn growing?
They have passed like rain on the mountain, like a wind in the meadow;
Thedays have gone down in the West behind the hills into shadow.
Who shall gather the smoke of the dead wood burning,
Or behold the flowing years from the Sea returning?

Arghh! Muse!
She bids me to tear down a wall
This distant siren on the wind
Shall I heed her call?

But here I am
With some Anonymity
What could it hurt
To pretend to be free

And now she talks of losing hide
So little have I left
I think Ill run for the rocks
And hide within a cleft

But wait! There’s more. She says
I should not take that to heart
That’s a relief because those words
Certainly gave me a start

That’s a relief because those words
Certainly gave me a start

You handle you words well
with mirth and merriment
sure I can tell
a playful muse
sometimes I own
a real clown
brow lined with frown
and
sometimes sad
and at times glad

As the world turns
night today
day to night
I walk without fright

The words are vaguely familiar,
though I have not heard the name
He is a master of allusion
Word, and verse, all the same.
