With you being a lawyer you will appreciate this pome I wrote back in 93. The surfer is an Alabama district judge who Laura and I and several friends were having drinks with when a lawyer who was in AA and fell off the wagon drove his brand new Mazda 929 through the brick wall at the front of the bar.
Catch a Wave
The antique armoire caught his eye,
He went to take a look.
He bent to take a glance inside,
Then things began to cook.
The wall exploded like a bomb,
Debris went everywhere.
I know that I was caught off guard,
And frozen in my chair.
He rode the wave of moving wall,
The armoire was his board.
I’m sure that as the wave did crest,
He thought he’d join the Lord.
But he was lucky on this night,
And soon he will be fine.
