March 17, Dear Fellow Patriot:

The 2004 election season is upon us and I have announced my candidacy for the United States House of Representatives against Congressman Patrick Kennedy. We are going to run the strongest most determined campaign in the history of the Rhode Island, and in November, God willing, together we will win.

I believe the people of the 1st district deserve a representative who will overcome any obstacle, go the extra mile and work, work ceaselessly to ensure that we Rhode Islanders can enjoy the high quality of life which we ALL work to provide for our families.

I will prove to you my desire to serve the people of this great state. I want to protect our lifestyle our families and our livelihoods.

I am on a mission to prove that I will protect this district and everyone in it from Burrillville to Bristol, From Woonsocket to Newport Harbor.

Yes, I was a Navy Seal. But my desire to serve isn't gone. My mission to protect your family starts with my desire to protect my family. My wife and sons are the reason I am running. I see in them the same needs your family has.

Back in February, our current congressman said something I found outrageous. Patrick Kennedy said, and I must paraphrase due to his embarrassing use of profanity:

"I don't need Bush's tax cut. I have never worked a [blanking] day in my life."

Let me say two things. First we don't need a foul-mouthed congressman representing us in Washington. I don't want to cover my children's ears when our Congressman speaks.

We have a large sector of defense jobs here and I am committed to protecting them all. Our military is re-making itself to operate more efficiently with less. It is paramount we have a congressman who knows how to think like those military officers who are making decisions on where to cut. We must have a congressman who can demonstrate the necessity of our defense sector jobs. We need a congressman who can negotiate from within.

So you tell me, who should that be?

Would Navy defense contractors rather talk to a Navy Seal who served on the USS Saratoga… or Patrick Kennedy who wrecks the riggings of rented sailboats and leaves them entangled in fishing nets?

Who would Air Force contractors rather talk to?

A Navy Seal who has parachuted into the Adriatic Sea… or Patrick Kennedy who only flies first class?

Who would the Military Brass at the Pentagon listen to?

A Navy Seal who has served with them, who has used the equipment they want built, flown in the planes they want upgraded and sailed on the ships that need refurbishing...or Patrick Kennedy who has never served, and would seem to be quite proud of never having worked.

I will be a far better protector of Rhode Island's defense jobs.

Just as I was trained to shoulder a fallen comrade, as your Congressman I will shoulder neighbors who need help.

Let a Navy Seal who has worked and trained to accomplish a mission approach the problems that face this state and country¦ jobs, taxes, healthcare. These are all enormously difficult and complex areas to dive into. But I can do it. I know what it means to take on a mission that seems impossible. And I know what it means to succeed when no one thought you could.

It is said that every great journey begins with a first step. Today is the first day of an eight month long campaign, a campaign to protect your paychecks, a campaign to protect our jobs, a campaign to protect the environment, a campaign to demonstrate to the people of Rhode Island the value of a representative who works for them.

Please visit my web site at www.Rogers2004.com and join the team. Experience has taught me that teamwork is the key to success, and that a small, dedicated and hard working band of brothers (and sisters) can accomplish great things, if they work together.

God Bless

Thank you,
