Just got an email from NewsMax. They are assisting Townhall in a drive for signatures on a petition for Judge Roberts. It reads:

Even though I agree with Ann Coulter, do we have a choice but to support Roberts?

Conservatives most certainly should not waste their time or effort supporting a candidate we know very little about. Bush wanted a candidate the Democrats would rubber stamp for his own political expediency. Let him and the Republicans fight the battle.

If Roberts ends up being another Souter or O'Connor, the Republicans are going to pass the blame off on conservative/Christian/pro-lifers for approving him and simply state that he and all involved made a mistake. THAT ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH. With 55 seats in the Senate and the White House, the Republicans MUST nominate known originalist, they must end up being originalist or the Republican party MUST be held accountable for breaking its promise to appoint an originalist.
