Siemens, Oil for Food and WMD

Posted on 12/16/2005 11:37:42 AM PST by chuckandjoan

It was reported that Siemens is among companies that sold medical equipment to Iraq particularly during the Oil for Food project. Arizona State Treasurer David Peterson, interested in this because part of the 8 billion dollars of tax funds he administers is invested in purchases of stocks. He reports that the switches and other internal equipment particularly of Siemens' ultrasound devices used to 'zap' gall stones and kidney stones are ideal for other uses such as detonating nuclear weapons and other WMDs. Further, there has been no accounting - as to number, for example - of how many of the equipment sold to Iraq are presently in use. If we could inventory this matter we would know with high degree of certainty that Saddam was developing WMDs, and this would confirm the intelligence data that led to our current involvement.

TOPICS: Campaign News; Issues; U.S. Congress; U.S. Senate
KEYWORDS: medicalequipment; nuclearsupplies
It seems to me we should be pushing both Congress and the media to investigate this matter immediately. The investigation should not be difficult: Get Siemens records, and locate the equipment that was sent.

I found an article in a search:

In October this year, a magazine of the German radio channel, Südwestrundfunk reported that electronics giant Siemens had delivered specialized technical equipment to Iraq for the treatment of kidney stones, but which could also under certain circumstances be used as a detonator for atom bombs.
