Just to be up-to-date, I said that in January.
It seems clear now Romney couldnt win in Mass., hes too conservative. Anyway, Im supporting him for President now, at least hes my first choice.
This brings back memories, it took a long time for me to decide to support him.
I’m supporting Mitt Romney. I’m speaking well of every candidate we have whenever I can.
Part of my selection criteria is ability to beat Rudy Giuliani in the primary. There are three candidates I would support over Rudy, in addition to Duncan Hunter.
If Fred had passed Rudy in the polls, I’d probably be supporting him first. There are things I like better about Romney, and things I like better about Thompson.
I kept from picking a candidate as long as I thought I could, hoping someone would come along that was the clear choice and for whom my additional help could possibly make a difference.
Then I chose Mitt Romney. But if Fred Thompson wins the nomination, I’ll be happy.
As to the general election, I simply don’t have a clue as to whether Mitt or Fred would be a better candidate. But I do know that there are few people I talk to that aren’t actually active in politics who great Fred with enthusiasm.
For whatever reason, he’s about as exciting as Bob Dole, at least to the people I’m talking about. Huckabee excites them. Romney is acceptable to them. McCain often gets positive reviews. Thompson — Old, tired, and the latest, “grumpy”.
I’ve seen others say that’s “presidential”. Unfortunately, at this time I don’t see a lot of regular voters who characterize that as “presidential” . And unfortunately, We don’t get to pick the president,it’s the 60+ million average voters who the victor will need in November of 2008.
