You really should give this up. You are making a fool of yourself. What is missing in that article you linked? Oh yeah, the part that says 200,000 African Americans stayed in New Orleans during Katrina. Come on now. Surely you realize this is going nowhere?

People even in remote countries have heard about Katrina. What do you suppose the major debacle was during Katrina? Do you think Katrina would become so infamous if ALL RESIDENTS HAD MOVED OUT AFTER 4 DAYS of incessant warnings?

Katrina’s main devastation was not just the destruction of properties, but loss of life and miserable living conditions endured by people who did not get out.

So that brings me back to my paradox....people had no problem crowding into DC in a short time, but people had problems getting out of New Orleans with 4 days of warnings.

Since you are hung up on the 200,000 number, here is a link which should make you happy...

But you are missing my point...which is...blacks crowded in much larger numbers to DC which is a expensive place, in a short time. Yet blacks did not evacuate from New Orleans in much smaller numbers stranded. The exact count is immaterial since there were no census takers in N.O. during Katrina for the exact head count. Don’t spend time looking at the trees since you will then get lost in the forest.

why are you even arguing this?

It is reasonable to believe that at least a hundred thousand stayed in New Orleans knowing full damn and well that Katrina was on the way.

It is a fact that many did evacuate, I know this because before Katrina hit I got my best friend / sister out of the City.

I know for a fact that MY local news people were telling us that we were in deep trouble, and that Margaret Orr was on tv telling the residents of NO that they would be getting “a little wind, a little rain.”

Was poverty the main reason that so many were trapped or died? No. the main reason was a butt load of incompetent, moronic City AND State leaders and that after the storm went through they sat on their ignorant, ‘assets’ and poor mouthed and laid blame instead of doing something just as they are STILL doing.

Now argue with me. Someone who lived in Orleans, Tammany, and Jefferson Parishes for over 20 years.
