Weld District Attorney Ken Buck said Tuesday that hes leaning toward running for Senate in 2010 against Senate appointee Michael Bennet.
However, Buck said he has ruled out running for other offices while on his listening tour around the state.
Buck said he likely will file paperwork to run for the Senate seat in April and then will announce his candidacy. He declined to give a date for his announcement.
Bennet, a Democrat, was appointed by Gov. Bill Ritter to the Senate after Ken Salazar left his seat to take a position in President Barack Obamas cabinet.
Buck, a Republican, declined to say why a Senate bid was more attractive than a run at Congress in Colorados 4th Congressional District.

I’m kind of surprised, as I thought that Buck would run against Betsy Markey. In any case, I wish him well. Among other things, he has made a local name for himself as a strong opponent of illegal aliens.
Hooray! Buck will stand his ground on principle.
Watch for Diggs Brown to enter against Markey, once he is back from his current National Guard duty.
