Weary of the direction the federal government is going, Weld County District Attorney Ken Buck hopes voters will elect him as the next U.S. senator from Colorado in 2010 so he can make changes, he said Wednesday. I am as tired as you are at the social engineering that goes on in the federal government, Buck said to about 40 people at the Larimer County Republican Partys monthly meeting.
He hopes to face Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet during the next election. Aurora City Council member Ryan Fraizer also has announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for the Senate seat.
Buck wants to decrease the size of the federal government while increasing its efficiency, he said.
To do this, problems in areas such as education need to be turned back over to state and local governments, because a one-size-fits-all approach doesnt work, Buck said.
The problems that we have in this country are best solved at the local level, he said.
Buck also said that, despite some differing views, the Republican Party needs to unite to regain power.
He also touched on issues such as the economy and illegal immigration.

Ken Buck is the real deal, and he’s been forceful on the illegal alien front.
Every faux “conservative Democrat” that votes with Nancy Pelosi 98% of the time and then comes crawling back to his district asking for conservative votes should be voted out in ‘2010.
Bennett is so beatable but no big fish in the race yet.
Weld would make a great candidate for the 4th district house seat that the rats took last time.
