Snowe: GOP Could Be Alienating Hispanics
National Journal ^ | 2009-08-09 | Amy Harder

Olympia Snowe said today that her Republican colleagues' pending "no" votes on Sonia Sotomayor raise "a serious concern" about alienating their Hispanic constituencies. The Maine moderate was among the first GOP lawmakers to say she would vote yes, joining Mel Martinez of Florida and Richard Lugar of Indiana on July 17.

Snowe told reporters that voting for Sotomayor "would have certainly been an avenue for appealing to the Hispanic community, where we did poorly in the last election. I think we can ill afford to lose their support in the future when we're attempting to rebuild the Republican Party nationally," she said.

That prissy little temper tantrum he threw on the Senate floor during 2007 "comprehensive immigration reform" fully convinced me that Pansy is a starting catcher for "the other team."

Maybe Nancyboy Graham is a better name for her him.

Were Democrats alienating Hispanics when they stonewalled Miguel Estrada?

Hispanics will never vote conservative.

Hispanics: a bloc that seeks power for itself and expresses hostility to America

She is one racist bitch. Thinking Hispanics only care about the ethnicity of an individual and not their character. Isn’t it time we start pointing out the racism of these “moderates” because there is no other word for the way they look down on minorities as if they can not think or understand issues. Olympia Snow is talking the language of the new Jim Crow.

Good luck with that. As far as they’re concerned only white people can be racist.

So, calling out Sonia’s stances on judicial activism is something that may “alienate Hispanics?” Well, too effing bad. The process is either done right or not at all.

So, Miss Olympia...

Kindly STFU.

“would have certainly been an avenue for appealing to the Hispanic community...”

She’s right.
Unless we can come up with a moderate candidate—preferably a war hero—who sponsors some sort of comprehensive immigration reform to show the Hispanics they are welcome, well, we could lose both houses of Congress & the White House, and the Supreme Court could become loaded with lefty ideologues.

Wait a second ....

According to this source, there are around 10,000 hispanics in Maine, or .8% (that’s eight tenths of one percent) of the entire Maine population.

http://www.statehealthfacts.org/profileind.jsp?ind=449&cat=9&rgn=21&print=1&print=1&print=1

Who the hell is she grandstanding for? She could very easily tell the hispanics in Maine to pound sand and it would make no difference in her state. Or is she saying that the .8% put her in office?

“Snowe ... you ignorant slu$!!”

How about the GOP focusing on it’s core principles and return to being a political party that believes in reducing the size of the government and lowering taxes! If others agree, let them join us and not let us try to pander to them along racial lines, no less.

If conservatives can’t win the Hispanic vote, we are through in this country. Check out future demographic projections.

If we can’t retake the GOP for our cause, what good will creating another party do? It will only assure a permanent Democrat majority.

and nobody accused the dims of alienating the disabled when they made their constant joke about Trig.....or alienating blacks when they went after Thomas for some silly flimsy charge that held no water....

and God forbide, they never have alienated our soldiers, with some of the Dims calling them murderers.....

the hypocrisy...
