Aggravation Mounts in Minn. Over Governor's Shift on Climate
New York Times ^ | 8/24/2009 | EVAN LEHMANN

Minnesota's Republican governor used to make soaring speeches about defusing climate change. Now he's making jokes, and some environmentalists are wondering whether his gone-missing support amounts to "bait and switch" politics.

Gov. Tim Pawlenty is stoking frustration among Democratic state lawmakers and prominent climate thinkers for becoming "totally silent" on two major efforts to stem greenhouse gas emissions in Minnesota and in a strip of states stretching from Canada to Kansas.

The turnaround is striking because it was the governor who powerfully promoted the initiatives. Now, chafed participants believe Pawlenty is abandoning climate action to mend his conservative credentials before taking a stab at the Republican nomination for president in 2012.

It seems Pawlenty is learning the truth about global warming.

I live in Minnesota and a real conservative cannot be in love with Pawlenty. He is a politican first led by political expediency. Remember he was big in the McCain campaign and basically a RINO. He reads the tea leaves and moves to further his career.

How can you tell if he is learning the truth (ideally) or if he is just being what he is, a politician, and saying what he thinks will propel him to the desired level of office? I wish we had a truth detector meter when these narcissists start talking.

I feel Pawlenty got most of his RINO reputation due to this issue. If he is currently evolving on the subject it will still take a great deal of time to shake the RINO label.

How dear! — first we go over the cliff with President Ohmigod!, and now we get to look forward to President Puh-lenty; how did we get so lucky?

Reading quickly, I first thought it said "strip mine states from Canada to Kansas" and thought of this:

Well, many of the Palin detractors on FR come up with Pawlenty as a conservative substitute when you out them as Romney-bots. Pawlenty is a total go with the flow RINO. He should’ve exercised maximum power under the law to stop or effect the ridiculous recount that put AL Franken in the Senate. Instead, he just stood back and let the DFL run the show.

Plus he is on record as a Cap and Tax PROPONENT!!

We need someone willing to exercise maximum power to turn this nation around. Not a go-along to get-along

prominent climate thinkers ...

LOL Prominent climate thinkers know global warming is complete nonsense. Further the climate has been changing since the earth formed. So climate change as used for their purposes is nonsense too.

Pawlenty on the Rebound? Governor's Approval Rating Reaches Highest Mark in 2009

No aggravation is not mounting in Minnesota about T-paw, it is mounting in the elitist fascist Media establishment that T-paw has turned heretic on their “green” religion.
