After losing to Rep. Hill in 2002, claiming the 9th CD in the presidential year of 2004, then losing to Hill again in 2006 by 110,454 to 100,469 (Libertarian Eric Schansberg polled 9,893), the Democrat was able to hang on to the seat in 2009 with a 61,000 vote plurality. Many believed that Sodrel was headed to the dustbin of Hoosier congressional politics.
Not so fast, the trucking executive told HPI. What Ive told everybody was that I wasnt prepared to tell them I wouldnt seek the nomination, but Im not prepared to tell them I will.
Sodrel is writing a book entitled Citizen Sheep: Government Shepherds where the New Albany Republican will define for the common man what it means to be a capitalist, socialist, or communist. People just dont understand the various terms, Sodrel said. Its tough. Im used to writing 750 word op-ed pieces. I dont want this to be long. I want it to be simple: short sentences; short paragraphs. It will be something for regular people.
Sodrel hopes to have his part of the project done in the next 30 days. Then he will take the temperature of the 9th CD.

Hopefully Sodrell hung himself when he called the protesters against health care “terrorists.” I don’t want to see this man back in Congress.
There are a couple of others who are looking at this race. I think that Sordel may have jumped the shark.
You got that bassackwards, it was Baron Hill who referred to us as “Domestic Terrorists”.
It was Hill, the sitting Democrat congressman, that said that.
Sodrell is the good guy : )
Baron Hill is a weasel.
I’m in his district and will do everything I can to see him defeated.
I have heard that there is a new Republican challenger for the 9th district seat. Do you know anything about who that might be?
I don’t know, but I have some contacts that might know, I’ll check them. I work in Jeffersonville, but actually live in Louisville. We are trying to get rid of a weasel in the 3rd district (Yarmouth), the darling of the Communist Journal.
I like Sodrel but it’s probably time for a fresh face.
Indiana ping
“I have heard that there is a new Republican challenger for the 9th district seat. Do you know anything about who that might be?”
Keith Henderson, the Floyd County DA, is a possible candidate.
Another very young man also.
Mike would have won last time if the dem hadn’t registered the out of state students at Bloomington.
Sodrel ran far behind McCain, who narrowly won the district.
Fraud may have made the difference in their close 2006 race (and was the difference in Obama winning Indiana) but it can’t explain away Hill’s landslide win in 2008.
Opps, you’re right. Sorry gang, long day.
You got that right, wow, I knew I shouldn’t have had that last shot of rum last night.
Rum was not my best friend last night. I wish I could blame it on Captain Morgan but the Bacardi was not very user friendly last night.
“Keith Henderson, the Floyd County DA, is a possible candidate.”
Thanks for the reply. I’ll look into it.
