Well, that’s a good point! I think Rush was right today when he said that we have to get the GOP in gear and make it conservative again, because while we are annoyed at the wusses in the GOP, what we are really freaked out about is the New Fascist Democrat Obama Land.

We have to forget the fantasy third party, because when it has emerged, it has only led to failure and loss of elections.

We can’t afford to lose the next election (if we have one). The Dems were obviously sticking their fingers in their ears and ignored us on 9/12, but I think a lot of Republican elected officials got the message.

Looks that way, doesn’t it? That’s what “compassion” gets you.

Lol. Bush killed the GOP?

He did't do it any good by cowtowing to the illegals.

I don't remember that, but he did contribute to Al Franken's Senate race.

That’s not a great idea. Don’t you think you should at least wait and see who the pubbie candidate is? Do you really want Obama in for a second term?

"If the Republicans do come back, it'll be our job to hold their feet to the fire this time and purge all RINOs!!"

Definately!

I am not in a coma. I’m just tired of the constant slams against the GOP. Why not say something good about the ones that are conservative and work against the ones that aren’t? The constant put down gets very depressing.

Rasmussen Reports shows that 44% would vote for their district’s Republican congressional candidate while 37% would opt for his or her Democratic opponent.

This is now the 11th straight week GOP candidates have held the advantage.

Support for both parties rose one point over the past week, giving Republicans their highest level of support of the past several years. Support for Democrats last week reached its lowest point during that same time period.

If you're tired of the “constant slams against the GOP”, I don't know what to tell you except they're bound to get more frequent. After all, Free Republic is first and foremost, a conservative forum, not a GOP forum. Conservatives make up the vast majority of FReepers. We began to speak out strongly against Bush and the GOP Congress starting in 2005 and 2006. We warned the GOP they'd lose in 2006 and 2008, if they didn't get back to advancing conservatism. Of course, they didn't listen and today America is saddled with a hardcore, leftwing socialist government.

There are some good conservatives in the House and a FEW in the Senate. You can't get more conservative then my Representative, Doug Lamborn. So far, however, they're making little headway against the liberal agenda of Obama. When they do make a difference I'm the first to give them kudos.

Sorry you're depressed. If you intend on sticking around FR, I suggest you grow some thicker skin.

Thank you for creating a massive federal entitlement program that will push us closer day by day to national bankruptcy while you fiddle. Every large government entitlement program -- Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid -- is racing towards bankruptcy. Now, you have created a new one to sink the ship of state. A rescue party led by the Republicans will, sooner or later, look mighty handy to the voters.

Thank you for posting this, 2ndDivisionVet. You always find the best articles first.

Yes, the GOP has committed suicide in my opinion. I will never again vote for someone just because they have a R behind their name and are running against a D. I am much more inclined to find the independent candidates and get to know them and even campaign for them before I blindly accept the R candidate. In fact I think we here in Mississippi need to get rid of our current R and elect dedicated conservatives.
