Long time lurker.
My screen name has nothing to do with "the special relationship built in the 80's between the governments of Britain and the United States." The media made that up.

A link to my pedigree is here Giggle. I'm joking.

Actually, my real name is MagnaCarta. I was born at Runnymeade in 1215. Here is a link to more information

I've taken these lines from page 471 of Margaret Thatcher's book, Statecraft, wherein she was quoting Kipling:

...At Runnymede, at Runnymede,
Your rights were won at Runnymede!
No freeman shall be fined or bound,
Or dispossessed of freehold ground,
Except by lawful judgment found
And passed upon him by his peers.
Forget not, after all these years,
The Charter signed at Runnymede...

Oh, what the heck? Here's the whole poem:

What Say The Reeds at Runnymede?
Rudyard Kipling (1865-1936)

At Runnymede, at Runnymede,
What say the reeds at Runnymede?
The lissom reeds that give and take,
That bend so far, but never break,
They keep the sleepy Thames awake
With tales of John at Runnymede.
At Runnymede, at Runnymede,
Oh, hear the reeds at Runnymede:
'You musn't sell, delay, deny,
A freeman's right or liberty.
It wakes the stubborn Englishry,
We saw 'em roused at Runnymede!

When through our ranks the Barons came,
With little thought of praise or blame,
But resolute to play the game,
They lumbered up to Runnymede;
And there they launched in solid line
The first attack on Right Divine,
The curt uncompromising "Sign!'
They settled John at Runnymede.

At Runnymede, at Runnymede,
Your rights were won at Runnymede!
No freeman shall be fined or bound,
Or dispossessed of freehold ground,
Except by lawful judgment found
And passed upon him by his peers.
Forget not, after all these years,
The Charter signed at Runnymede.'

And still when mob or Monarch lays
Too rude a hand on English ways,
The whisper wakes, the shudder plays,
Across the reeds at Runnymede.
And Thames, that knows the moods of kings,
And crowds and priests and suchlike things,
Rolls deep and dreadful as he brings
Their warning down from Runnymede!

Check out this thread I have solved the Health Care "Crisis" in under 25 words, and implement Tort Reform in 2 words.

Although I am not as prolific a parody writer as Doug from Upland, I enjoy doing that. Here, in no order whatsoever, are some of my parodies:

Yet Another Kerry Song Parody Tune: The Addams Family. My little salute to what's his name.

What's Bill Got To Do With It? Tune: "What's Love Got to do with It?" HRC sings about her Congo trip.

Drag Me a-kickin' from this airplane Tune: "Give Me a Ticket for an Airplane". Brenda Lee (no, not THAT Brenda Lee) this one is a reporter from a small Georgia newspaper who was dragged, kicking and screaming from Air Force One.

I'm a Black Congresswoman Tune: Santana's "Black Magic Woman". My salute to Cynthia McKinney.

My Law School Taught Me You Better Shop Around Tune: "My Momma Told Me You Better Shop Around" A little send up of Anna Diggs Taylor, ultra lib Carter appointee. Named "song of the hour" on August 17, 2006 by Never Yet Melted. Gee, that was a lot of hours ago...

Many have accused me of having "PDS". Here, in no particular order, is my own little "PDS" corner

August 30, 2008 I don't need no stinkin' tin foil.

According to this site I'm something akin to a "Moderate Libertarian." Actually, I'm a little surprised that I didn't turn up as an Authoritarian. Guess there's a separation between home and state.
