I sure hope the Senators still considering their positions are getting full reports on the 118 new bureaucracies the House bill would create. Some might improve health care, though I doubt it. Most will move more power into the White House, and many will have no effect or detrimental effects on health care. They are the best argument I’ve seen for “government by assassination,” and no, I still don’t advocate “voting” by that method. Almost, but not nearly.

Just a few of the really scary things I see in the summary:

Sec. 224 (p. 118) provides that 18 months after the bill becomes law, the Secretary of Health and Human Services will decide what a "qualified plan" covers and how much you'll be legally required to pay for it. That's like a banker telling you to sign the loan agreement now, then filling in the interest rate and repayment terms 18 months later. No way!

Sec. 303 (pp. 167-168) makes it clear that, although the "qualified plan" is not yet designed, it will be of the "one size fits all" variety. The bill claims to offer choice—basic, enhanced and premium levels. But the benefits are the same, only the co-pays and deductibles differ. Not sure what this means.

Sec. 399V (p. 1422) provides for grants to community "entities" with no required qualifications except having "documented community activity and experience with community healthcare workers" to "educate, guide, and provide experiential learning opportunities" aimed at drug abuse, poor nutrition, smoking and obesity. "Each community health worker program receiving funds under the grant will provide services in the cultural context most appropriate for the individual served by the program. Can you say ACORN and SEIU? "Community health worker" = union member!

These programs will "enhance the capacity of individuals to utilize health services and health related social services under Federal, State and local programs by assisting individuals in establishing eligibility . . . and in receiving services and other benefits" including transportation and translation services.Just imagine what we will pay these SEIU members to provide "transportation and translating services"!

Sec. 222 (p. 617) provides reimbursement for culturally and linguistically appropriate services. This program will train health-care workers to inform Medicare beneficiaries of their "right" to have an interpreter at all times and with no co-pays for language services. Some organization, like ACORN, will get funds for "training" doctors and nurses how to inform patients about their right to an interpreter.

Secs. 2521 and 2533 (pp. 1379 and 1437)establishes racial and ethnic preferences in awarding grants for training nurses and creating secondary-school health science programs. For example, grants for nursing schools should "give preference to programs that provide for improving the diversity of new nurse graduates to reflect changes in the demographics of the patient population." And secondary-school grants should go to schools "graduating students from disadvantaged backgrounds including racial and ethnic minorities."Ugh!

Sec. 1302 (pp. 672-692) moves Medicare from a fee-for-service payment system, in which patients choose which doctors to see and doctors are paid for each service they provide, toward what's called a "medical home." The medical home is this decade's version of HMO-restrictions on care. A primary-care provider manages access to costly specialists and diagnostic tests for a flat monthly fee. The bill specifies that patients may have to settle for a nurse practitioner rather than a physician as the primary-care provider. So, Medicare becomes an HMO and nurse practioners replace the family doctors. A few years ago, Florida tried to make Medicaid an HMO and the recipients screamed bloody murder!

What a load of Socialist garbage!!!

Have you seen any reports of what it is going to cost just to administer this annually? Imagine all the thousands of government workers they will have to hire! The annual administrative costs ARE NOT IN THE COST ESTIMATE FROM THE CBO!

Imagine all the thousands of government workers they will have to hire!

That's 100s of 1000s and they will be hired as soon as this thing becomes law so that the incoming Republican majorities in Congress 2010 will be faced with having to disemploy those hundreds of thousands if they repeal. It is Insurance for the law.

It doesn’t come into effect until 2013. But it is the promise of all these bureaucracies and jobs that will re-elect the dude in 2012, he thinks.

I have ask that same question of my senator (D) and congressperson (R) here in NC, and the only answer I received from either was a form letter that basically said " Thanks for contacting us".

I don’t agree with the idea of national healthcare to begin with, but strategically, this seems like a suicide bill for Dems. It goes right after Seniors and middle to low income families.

Ach! You are of course right, and the controlling commission, commissioners, and “health czar” have already been created and appointed out of the $787B “stimulus”! BHO is clearly a developmentally arrested adolescent, so who the HELL is steering the slimy, but skilled, takeover?

Not really, simply, it will just add another dimension of new and countless newcomers to become totally and irreversibly addicted to the handouts of our government provider, and for what? All so our elected officials can bribe the voters with their own money, so they can get re-elected time and time again.

Soon after our young country was formed, Alexis de Tocqueville, stated:

The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public’s money.

Who is directing this takeover?... in a world where good and evil seem distant to the echoing cries of help and guidance, many Americans become lost in a world full of want and desire, immune to the fact that they and their families are starving for true leadership and intrepid decision making...

The most powerful government drug (power) dealers, bent on getting all Americans addicted to their handouts so that our corrupt government politicians can live to vote another day... these are those who are directing this evil.

So, President Obama, if you think you are a true leader and statesman intent on providing a beacon and pathway for Americans to survive in this turbulent world, you need to consider why you have been given this opportunity to do so, and act in the interests of all Americans, whether they be able to feed themselves or not, otherwise you have a lot to learn about true leadership and human compassion. Yet we see you fighting to pull the stopper in the sink and push America into an economic downward spiral with your obsession on health care reform and cap and trade issues that are only designed to help the greedy addicts of government subsidy in gaining what it choses not to work for as a healthy workforce. You are supporting a monster that is fit to remain eternally tied to sucking the tit of the fat government pig, just so fat and powerful senators and congressman can continue to get re-elected by using the money of hard working Americans to feed the addictions of lazy Americans bent on never having to lift themselves into any position whereby they can cut their dependency on government bribes and subsidy.

Unless this changes, as Atlas shruggs, there will be a revolt so real, and so tremendous, that Krakatoa will pale in comparison. I am realizing sadly, that most of our elected officials would rather sit complacent with the hope that such a revolt won’t occur. They would rather do nothing than work together to help support all Americans in a way, that allows them to support themselves, and not rely on your bribes, so that you can keep getting your best supporters elected forever.

The challenge is there: work to save America or continue on your present course and destroy everything America has worked so hard for years to become, and I must add, that has allowed even the most radical and Marxist to be elected in a free society without fear of reprisal and harm. This country is a wonderful country, with a Constitution that protects the little voices as well as the louder ones. But when elected officials become complacent in actions tantamount to tyranny and oppression, no matter how hard they think they are doing what they think is right, people will learn quickly that their rights and liberties are being not just eroded, but annihilated, and for what, just another politicians can have another 2 or 4 or 6 years of pubic service or dare I say, public abuse of its citizens.

My, GOD, open your eyes to real America, and not just your handlers who feed you words to spill into your elegant teleprompter. You have the ability to be a real leader, yet you chose to work to destroy. Many tears will fall and many lives will suffer with your direction that it appears is only serving your needs and your handlers, and not the needs of our great Nation.

History will show who has helped all Americans to grow and live in a free society. The choice is free, the direction is open, and only the brave, the bold, and the intrepid will be seen as truly helping Americans survive to raise their families in a world where good and evil are not just words in a speech.

Yes, it’s worrisome that approximately half the people living in this country are chronically indigent. Many of them have been for generations, and most were lured into their present sad state by government handouts. What’s worrisome about it is that they’re almost numerous enough to elect politicians who’ll give them more handouts.

I disagree just a little bit with your assertion that BHO has it in him to be a great leader. If you heard him pander to native americans, and then give his “shout out” to a man who holds a different medal than BHO named, BEFORE mentioning the Fort Hood massacre, you should know that he’s completely out of touch with humanity, let alone with America.

What you need to know is that the Obama government will charge higher wage workers a huge amount for the same care a bum gets. The bum will get crappy care too, but it will be subsidized or free.

This is how they intend to redistribute the wealth.

oh, and don’t forget, the government will raid this fund just like SS.

Heavy duty rationing coming.

Regrettably, I agree. Hope springs eternal. But in the case of President Teleprompter Hussain Obama, I would have to admit, that it seems extremely unlikely that he will ever truly or deeply understand the damage he is causing to our great country. I think he lacks the gravitas to obtain any real understanding of anyone’s life outside his own, if not for the simple fact that he has never had to work for anything. In other words, he behaves like a spoiled brat; something very unbecoming for a President or executive in any activity. He does make a very effective politician, though...

but as Mark Twain stated:

There is no distinctly American criminal class - except Congress.

Funny, I envision the Prez going home to Mama Obama and saying, “Mama, this is going great! I’ll redistribute another trillion to poor black countries tomorrow alone.... Do you really think that noise outside is gunfire? I’ve never been around guns — what’s that ‘tick tick ticking’ against our walls? And how thick are these walls?”
