Heres a perfect example of how, inside the conservative base, the Scott Brown campaign for Senate in Massachusetts has become a lower-key, more gun-shy version of the push for Doug Hoffmans unlikely bid in NY-23. Way back on September 28, 2009, a month and a week before the election, former senator and radio host Fred Thompson became the first GOP celebrity to endorse Hoffman. He went all in with an open letter, a TV ad, and campaign appearances.
Today, Thompson tweeted a message of support for Brown: Scott Brown can win and be the vote to keep the dems and health care at bay. Its a measure of the support Brown is getting on talk radio, but its coming late in the game, and only after polls suggested that Brown was close enough to scare the Democrats. Just like Sen. John McCains (R-Ariz.) video endorsement of Brown, its a sign that Republicans want to be able to take credit for a close election but that theyre not ready to put their political capital on the line for a likely defeat. (Democratic candidate Martha Coakley, after spooking some Democrats by holding onto her campaign war chest, is releasing a new TV ad today.)
No. Sarah’s endorsement would put the loonies into a frenzy and they would be energized to vote. As it stands now, this is a special election and low key financial support from conservatives would be helpful.
I suspect the “friendly” piece in the NYT was really written to try to alert the lefty machine in MA to get into gear.
Fred ping!
Spot on!
My recommondation for Sarah would be to stay out of the MA senate race. MA is extremely liberal, they make my home state of California look Conservative. If Sarah got involved, endorsing Brown, it would drive the libs insane and make them all support the Dem so that Brown would lose and the media could say “Sarah Palin costs Scott Brown election” she should stay out of it. She should get involved in the Rubio/Crist election instead
Woo Hoo Brother Fred.
However, Sarah, no matter how much I like her, is correct in not jumping in this race.. Mass is to LibAss.
Sarah could put the word out on the net for financial support for Brown.

Send him $9.12
He may be able to sneak his way in.
In my opinion, Sarah had McCain endorse Brown on her behalf. Sarah is wise to stay out of this race. Unfortunately, Mass. is way too liberal and with Sarah's endorsement, it will set off the liberal media hounds and make her the story. Then if Brown loses they would blame her.
Brown is also a libertarian on abortion which conflicts with Sarah's true pro-life view.
She could do that, but that would also be considered an endorsement, because why else would she be asking people to donate to him. If somehow Brown can win, it would stall the health care vote..He has to win
I agree!!
And then Fred tweeted that his oatmeal was good and he feels regular.
I might throw a Ben Franklin at him.
No surprise, but every bit helps.
Well, to rethink it, she doesn’t have to do in the open (openly asking others to donate money for Brown’s campaign ) perhaps more quietly amongst proxies on websites and blogs.
I’ve just donated :)
For sure! Too bad Fred shat the bed in 2008.
Let as many as possible support Scott Brown. The Right wing Hollywood crowd, the Radio people, the politicos and newspapers. let the public know he’s got support. Also, pray with all your heart he wins. Go to Church, Mass, and Temple and beseech G-D that he wins. Prayer never hurts.
