Republican U.S. Senate candidate Bruce Blakeman is headed upstate today after Republican Scott Brown pulled off the upset Senate victory in Massachusetts last night.
Blakeman stopped in Albany this morning before heading to Buffalo and Rochester later today. Hes holding a press conference tomorrow in Rochester after meeting with donors and local leaders.
As the only Republican running for the U.S. Senate in New York against Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, Blakeman, a former Nassau County legislator and state comptroller candidate in 1998, said the results last night showed that voters are angry, worried and frustrated. They feel their voices arent being heard. They want somebody to speak for them.
He said, People like the message Scott Brown brought. They want somebody who is akin to him. And I think were both on the same message.
Blakeman said after Browns win, his cell phone hasnt stopped with supporters calling.

Blakeman is a member of the NY Port Authority and a former Long Island local official who ran a token candidacy for state Controller years ago. He’s hardly a first-tier candidate, but the way things are going, who knows what’ll happen?
Rep. Chris Lee (NY-26) was impressive in a phone townhall meeting tonight.
If it can happen in Mass, it can happen anywhere.
I sure hope there’s a whole bunch of politicians soiling themselves right about now over their prospects in Nov.
I hearld somewhere that Pataki was polling extremely well against Gillibrand even though he hadn’t yet declared.
I was hoping that Pataki would run, but it looks like he won’t. Blakeman wouldn’t think of running if he thought that Pataki would.
i was hoping Peter King would run. met him last year.
Ummm... Pataki says “Hello”:
“Pataki would trounce Gillibrand
Could old George be the new Brown?
A new Siena poll shows that former New York Gov. George Pataki, who left office with the popularity of week-old lox, would sweep past Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand by an impressive 51-percent-to-38-percent margin.
The poll marks the first time any New York Senate candidate has broken through the magical 50 percent threshold and also marks the first time Gillibrand, who was appointed by Gov. David Paterson a year ago, finds her disapprovals outpolling her positives”

I am highly doubtful if this Bruce Blakeman can beat Gillibrand
