CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Sarah Palin is taking aim at West Virginia Congressmen Alan Mollohan and Nick Rahall.
The two U.S. representatives are among 20 House Democrats the former Alaska governor wants her political action committee, SarahPAC, to target in the upcoming Congressional elections.
Palin released the list Tuesday on her Facebook page. The members of Congress she named supported the health-care reform package President Obama signed into law Tuesday -- and come from districts Palin and Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., won in 2008.
"We're going to reclaim the power of the people from those who disregarded the will of the people," Palin wrote in the Facebook wall post. "We're going to fire them and send them back to the private sector, which has been shrinking thanks to their destructive government-growing policies."
The post -- called "Don't Get Demoralized! Get Organized! Take Back the 20!" -- includes a U.S. map featuring crosshair targets over the districts Palin is going after.
"We'll aim for these races and many others," Palin wrote. "This is just the first salvo in a fight to elect people across the nation who will bring common sense to Washington."
Rahall's office did not return a phone call seeking comment Wednesday.
Mollohan campaign manager Pam Van Horn said the representative's focus is on his constituents, and that it's up to residents in his district to decide who to pick for Congress.
"No one from out of state has any role in that or any say in that," she said.
Rahall and Mollohan went into the weekend undecided on the health-care legislation, but voted for it. They said they were swayed by Obama's pledge to issue an executive order affirming a prohibition on federal funding of elective abortions.
State Democratic Party Chairman Nick Casey called Palin's strategy arrogant.
"It's a Fox commentator with out-of-state money coming in to beat up on West Virginians," Casey said. "Classic."
He added: "There's an arrogance to that that I think is offensive to anybody who's a West Virginian."
State Republican Party Chairman Doug McKinney said it's "only natural" that Palin is targeting Mollohan and Rahall.
"She's a free-market capitalist, and she believes the fewer entitlement programs you have, the better off you are," he said.
She's not the only one taking aim, McKinney said.
"We just went to the National Republican Congressional Committee dinner last night, and all the speakers there are targeting everybody who voted for the health-care package," he said.
Mollohan and Rahall have "actually been on the Republican Party's and the NRCC's radar for a while," McKinney said, and GOP congressmen with their own PACs want to help defeat them.
"They've told me that if we have candidates opposing Rahall and Mollohan that need money in the general election, to call on them."
The other members of Congress named in Palin's list are: Ann Kirkpatrick, Harry E. Mitchell and Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona; John Salazar and Betsy Markey of Colorado; Allen Boyd and Suzanne M. Kosmas of Florida; Baron P. Hill of Indiana; Earl Pomeroy of North Dakota; Charlie Wilson and John Boccieri of Ohio; Kathy Dahlkemper and Christopher Carney of Pennsylvania; John M. Spratt Jr. of South Carolina; and Tom Perriello of Virginia.
MSNBC is painting Sarah as someone encouraging people to take up guns and kill democrats—one of the things they said proved it?
She used the word “aim”. ::rolls eyeballs to back of head::
“No one from out of state has any role in that or any say in that,” she said.”
Hahahahahaha....
MSNBC employs Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow, Larry O’Donnell and a host of other communists. Who gives a rat’s @$$ what that little-watched network claims? They’re the Air AmeriKKKa of television.
“There’s an arrogance to that that I think is offensive to anybody who’s a West Virginian.”
Uh, I’m a West Virginian. I thought the arrogant ones were these two yahoos who voted against the will of the people.
Go, Sarah, go!
Glad she put that out there. It's one of the left's favorite tricks, to discourage and demoralize conservates.
I love Sarah, but she needs to do the same thing to McCain. He needs to go big time. If JD sucks kick his butt out next go round. When they figure out that they can’t build a career they might start listening to us.
I would not get too excited about the 2010 elections for any number of reasons. The chief reason is that the communists and socialists are now in control of the Government including the law enforcement department[s]. The second reson is if one believes that the communists and socialists,a/k/a Democrats will allow themselves to merely be voted out of power, then one is ,at best, delusional. Democrats use the law to attain their goals and tosuit their purposes. They do not recognize the law when it works against them.
Soon all of our avenues to make our voices heard will be shut down, except one and I do not believe that we have the guts to use it.
Add my WV voice to that!
The Dhimmis don’t like out-of-state money coming in to challenge their incumbents—?? Well, now they know what we feel like when Nancy Pelosi flies back from Syria with a bag of Arab cash to spread around in congressional district races.
Give ‘em hell Sarah! If you don’t we will in November!...NO IS GOING TO FORGET WHAT THESE RAT BASTARDS HAVE DONE!
You give the americaqn people little credit. We will not go gently into that good night.
Sarah is a fighter and a WINNER!
Again, I will believe it when I see it.
