Ed Rendell: Obama Could Get Primary Challenge in 2012
CBS News' Political Hotsheet ^ | July 28, 2010 | Jaywon Choe

There has been plenty of speculation about which Republicans will enter the race to challenge President Obama in the 2012 presidential elections.

But on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" yesterday, Democratic Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell threw a curveball into the discussion when he suggested that Mr. Obama could face a challenge from within his own party if he were to escalate U.S. involvement in Afghanistan.

While the governor didn't point to any specific potential primary challengers, he implied that Mr. Obama would need to keep his word on beginning to withdraw troops from Afghanistan in July 2011 to avoid a challenge from the left.

"[A primary challenge] is really possible," Rendell told Pat Buchanan. "It depends on how far it [the war in Afghanistan] deteriorates."

He added: "But if we start to begin to reduce our presence, I think that's probably enough to keep an anti-war candidate out of the race."

Well, let’s see. Cindy Sheehan was born in California, is over 35, and came in second behind San Fran Nan last time around.

(Rolling eyes)

Right......because that's the only thing with which anyone could possibly have a problem where this president is concerned.

Let the left attack the Obama administration, too! It, successfully, makes things even worse for Obama!

Not a prayer, not a chance. If the Rats don’t renominate Obama Black voters will sit at home and every rat in the country will go down in flames.

When I saw John Kerry (he served in 'Nam, ya know) on TV the other day "raising serious questions" about the administration's policies in Afghanistan I wondered if he was thinking about a primary challenge.

Of course Kerry would flop, but if Hillary were to resign over "policy differences," the game could be afoot.

Yep...I have no doubt she’ll run...and with her international jet setting under her belt now you can bet her party will push the “experience” envelope big time! I think the demos have her set to run for sure especially if up against Palin. Still there’s allot of people wanting “fresh” blood and that will go against her.

I dream of a world without the Clinton machine....but that will never happen.
