President Obama has "declared war on free enterprise" and is leading the country with "counterfeit values," former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney said Friday in a speech before a gathering of socially conservative activists.
"Im afraid that some in Washington today are driven by such different values that they would change the very character of America," Romney told the Values Voters Summit in remarks that began with a sharp critique of the presidents handling of the economy and ended with soaring praise for the founding fathers.
Romney was among a handful of possible Republican presidential candidates scheduled to speak at the annual two-day conference. Although delivered to a crowd made up largely of Christian conservatives, the remarks seemed aimed at a far broader audience and seemed to preview the recurring themes of the next presidential election.
Romney seemed to pick up where his 2008 failed bid for the Republican nomination left off. He accused Obama of diverting his attention away from the economy and charged that the nations continued economic troubles were a result of the presidents inexperience.
"We argued during the campaign that it was no time for on-the-job training. If he or his economic advisers had any experience in the private sector he would have known that the first three rules for any turnaround are focus, focus and focus," said Romney, a former corporate executive and founder of a private equity investment firm.
Romney called the presidents health-care overhaul plan "ill-conceived," although he did not explain the description in detail. As governor, Romney signed a health-care bill that, like Obamas plan, required individuals to have health insurance. Romney did not mention the bill.
He charged the president with trying to replace American values with liberal values, which he described as supporting unions, deficit spending, income redistribution and government control of health care. In a nod to the "tea party" movement, Romney praised the first colonists and founding fathers as driven by a "thirst for freedom."
"Ours is a creed of the pioneer, the innovator, the striver who expects no guarantee of success, but asks only to live and work in freedom," he said. "This creed, this value, is under assault in Washington today."
We're done with RINOs, Mitt.
Go away.
Don't go away mad.
Just go away.
Imagine that.
Wait, Allegra.
Mitt endorsed Christine O'Donnell the day after she won the primary.
Credit, where credit due, ya know? LOL.
Moslem are afraid of Romney. Bullet Proof Vest time.
We argued during the campaign that it was no time for on-the-job training.

Game on.
thats ok..let him rant at the 0....in the long run its good for us. Romney isnt going anywhere.
Romney seems to think that “values” are mainly about material stuff. So, I would still surmise that he is still squishy on sodomites, abortion, amnesty, etc.

Moslems know he could say....whats good for the goose is good for the gander.
The US Government went after the Mormons, they were not accorded any Freedom of Religion privileges. Burned their churches and killed their leaders.

Really ???
When did that all happen ???
Went after them for what reason ???
What “freedom of religion” would that be ??
What “freedom of religion privileges were they that the mormons want to do that the US governm, ent disagreed with ???
What mormon “churches” were burnt by the US government ???
Which mormoin leaders were killed by the US government ???
I’m sure you have a list and sources ???
I do think the moslem are afraid of him, because of the history of the Mormon Church.

You really think Romney would bring back blood atonement and kill non-mormons again ???
And you think the Moslems are afraid of that ???
Huh? I don't know what history that would be, but I can tell you that no Romney male has ever served the United States in uniform, ever.
The Romneys came here to serve Joseph Smith in 1841, and none of their men has serve us in the military, not a one of his five sons will enlist either. Romney was avoiding the draft in France at the same time that his father was running for President of the United States as the anti-Vietnam, GOP candidate.
I doubt that the Moslems quake in fear at that record.
Romney Can’t....
ITS all plain history, look anywhere. Wiki is a good place to start.
I wish Rom was more Conservative, and I don’t know if he has the cojones to go after the moslums, but history is on his side in this case.

The Mormon War is a name sometimes given to the 1838 conflict which occurred between Latter Day Saints (Mormons) and their neighbors in the northwestern region of the U.S. state of Missouri. This conflict is also sometimes referred to as the Missouri Mormon War to differentiate it from the Utah Mormon War (also known as the “Utah War”) and the lesser known Illinois Mormon War.
The specific dates of the war are from August 6, 1838 (the Gallatin election battle) to November 1, 1838 when Joseph Smith surrendered at Far West. During the conflict 22 people were killed (3 Mormons and 1 non-Mormon at Crooked River and 18 Mormons at Hauns Mill).
The conflict was preceded by the eviction of the Mormons from Jackson County, Missouri in 1833.
Rove has made no secret of his support for Romney as McCains VP.
