A spokeswoman for Bentley, Rebekah Mason, said Friday that Bentley wanted to concentrate on the race for governor and did not want to give the impression that he was endorsing anyone in the 2012 presidential race.Actually, this is a smart move on Bentley's part, particularly if the governor's race is close. He doesn't close the door to supporting Mitt as a possible VP nominee. As the leading candidate of the Dewey/Bush/New England Patrician wing of the party, it is not wise to p*ss on Mitt, but it is wise to keep him at arm's length.

The man knows his state and it’s the absolute perfect thing to do. They do not like Romney there. Romney needs to stay where he is wanted.
