Ruben Navarrette has no credibility with me. I've read his syndicated columns in the Dallas Morning News a few years ago. He just seems to be another petulant Mexican, wearing his ethnicity on his sleeve. I saw one of his pieces supporting LULAC -- he lost me forever after that.

One problem is that establishment Republicans and conservative voters mean two different things by “best candidate”. For them, it’s whatever warm body can get elected while calling themselves a Republican, no matter how weak their conservative principles, if any. They want to shorw up their power. For us, it does no good to shore up power with a body calling itself a Republican if in principle he might as well be a ‘rat. Our comcern is for the policies which will affect us and how they’ll vote. So, our interests and theirs are opposed. Trent Lott needs to shut up regarding politics, he rolled over like a possum when the ‘rats chided him and quit when we lost the majority. Since he wasn’t willing to stick it out to help protect conservative citizens, he needs to just shut up about what we’re doing to protect ourselves. Whiney barsted.
