Huckabee's clemency revisited
The Arkansas Times ^ | October 18, 2010 | Max Brantley

Posted on 11/30/2010 11:43:32 AM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

Maurice Clemmons, the former Arkansas prison inmate who gunned down four police officers in Washington is back in the news, and it's not the kind of news good for potential presidential candidate Mike Huckabee.

Seattle Times reporters have completed a new book on Clemmons and it illustrates even more graphically how thoroughly unsuited for clemency Clemmons was when Huckabee extended it — without consulting prosecutors first. Even as he was writing letters proclaiming his rehabilitation, Clemmons was extorting other inmates, assaulting them and participating in gang rapes. There's more, lots more. Paired with Wayne Dumond, he makes a matching set of trophies to poor judgment.

Here's the link to the Seattle Times article. His eight felonies, his violent prison behavior, his refusal to take a plea bargain — it all puts the lie to Huckabee and his defenders who depict the clemency as an act of grace for a young black man treated unfairly by the system.

Yeah, if he’s elected he’ll probably pardon Obama too.

When this case first broke and the clemency was discussed, I was struck by the nasty, unprofessional and childish response by Huckabee’s office to the prosecutor’s formal letter protesting the clemency.

Two things bother me. This clemency nightmare and one other thing.

The MSM always deride Palin for her tv show and that it’s somehow unpresidential yet the Huckster can have his weekly horrible talk show on Fox and play bass with has been musicians and somehow that isn’t?

HYPOCRISY!

The Seattle Times article that Brantley references has a lot of info about Clemmons.

Despite Clemmons' record, Huckabee showed mercy

I would like all of those that support Huckabee to know that I am trying to feel bad for them, but I can’t.

Every time I close my eyes and try to muster up sympathy, all I see is 4 dead cops and their crying loved ones.

He wouldn’t be anymore of whimp than W. W might as well have pardoned the clintons which is what happens when you don’t prosecute. They’re all in it together in the Rodney “Can’t we all just get along” King party.

Can Huckabee please do us all a huge favor and never seek any political office again? I can’t stand that fool.

Mike Huckabee’s judgement is terrifying.

He has NO business serving the public, in any capacity.
