Jeb Bush Opposes Arizona's SB 1070 Law
Latina ^ | December 7, 2010 | Mariela Rosario

Jeb Bush—former President George W. Bush's younger brother and member of one of the most esteemed Republican families in the country—announced his opposition to Arizona's SB 1070 laws over the weekend.

At the National League of Cities convention in Denver, Colorado, he explained that doesn't believe racial profiling is an affective way to determine citizenship and pointed out that his half-Latino children (he is married to a Mexican woman) could be suspects.

"It's the wrong approach," Bush said according to the Denver Post. "The net result is not much has been done."

Bush went on to criticize the call for mass deportation from anti-immigration groups, saying that the cost for such an effort would be prohibitive and that government should focus on plugging the border and integrating the estimated 12 million undocumented immigrants already in the United States into American society.

Jeb Bush's point was especially aimed at local Colorado Republicans; the state senate announced plans this year to introduce legislation based on Arizona's immigration bill, even though it has essentially been deemed unconstitutional by local courts. Jeb Bush, a party centrist, is seen by many conservatives as their main ambassador to the Latino community.

Bush concluded his speech by pointing out that his outspoken opposition to the controversial SB 1070 laws should be proof positive that he does not intend on running for president in 2012—a rumor his parents had already attempted to dispel, but that his brother and other conservatives have been pushing for.

Didn't I see an estimate of a one-time cost of $12 billion to deport every last illegal? It was some months back, if I remember correctly. Heck, I'll bet just the Tea Party could do it in privately-owned vehicles for gas money....

I voted for Governor Jeb twice & would do it again - for governor, but his position on hispanic immgration & illegals in general is well known & has been forever.
This is no surprise at all.

Other than that he was very, very good.

>>>...his half-Latino children (he is married to a Mexican woman) could be suspects.

His children would be suspect if they were doing things like... illegally obtaining prescription drugs... He’s suts another establishment, country club Republican - not much of a conservative.

"It's the wrong approach," Bush said...

I'm pretty sure that Jeb believes we should just throw up our hands, open the borders and pass an Amnesty for All bill. Jeb has got the Obama Tingle.

Jeb Bush married to a Mexican? I now understand President Bush’s “stand” on immigration and border security. The whole family is pussy-whipped.

I like Jeb but this is a reminder that he should not be president.

If you’re pulled over in Florida, are you not required to produce a driver’s license? If you can’t, will the cop not ask to see what ID you do have?

Same in Arizona. And if you have no ID, and you can’t speak English, they will check further to see if you are in the country illegally. I don’t think the law cares where you are from; if you can’t produce ID and you are obviously not a local, you’ll have to answer some questions.

In which country are foreign citizens “not” required to produce ID when a cop asks to see it? And if a foreign citizen can not produce ID, in what country on earth will he not have some further ‘splainin’ to do? If you’ve traveled at all, you know that in every country, foreigners are required to carry their ID at all times. And if you don’t have it, you aren’t going anywhere until you can produce it.

And why should we care what Jeb likes or dislikes? Is mommy trying to get Dynasty part III moving for 2012? Don’t they know that we have had enough of them and their modernistic approach on our republic?

He makes it sound like they all have to be deported by the end of the week! There is no time table. When illegals are found, they get deported. And ABSOLUTELY secure the border. It can be done...the government just doesn't WANT to do it.
