"I believe the president was born in the United States."

Believe: "to have confidence in the truth, the existence, or the reliability of something, ALTHOUGH WITHOUT ABSOLUTE PROOF THAT ONE IS RIGHT in doing so." (capitals mine)

'Believing' means nothing in this case, IMMHO. It means he has no facts, and he feels he has to say something. He is rattled, having his top position challenged so strongly and so swiftly.

Romney's top spot in the field has never been anything more than a myth spun out of whole cloth by the MSM and the Democrats. He has consistently failed to garner anything like a commanding level of support in accurate and reliable polling of conservatives, or center-right voters.

His pathetic statement to the press is yet another failure on his part, and shows him to be the weak RINO we all know he is. He sounds almost exactly like McCain did late in the 2008 campaign, and he hasn't even officially declared.

I don't know what's propping him up, or what's propelling him forward into the fray, but he's going to get ground to hamburger if he steps foot in this race. 2012 is no place for wimpodites.
