More Jobs, More Revenue, More American Energy: A Bipartisan Opportunity

Washington is so stuck in partisanship and ideological warfare that our representatives are missing easy opportunities for bipartisan solutions that would actually make things better for all Americans.

A thousand small solutions may be preferable to a magic committee of twelve trying to create a gigantic (and almost certainly bad) deal.

House Republicans could take a creative step toward a bipartisan, thousand-solution strategy by passing a bill supported by Senate Democrats the first week they return to Washington.

Virginia Democratic Senators Mark Warner and Jim Webb have created such a bipartisan opportunity for a small building block toward success.

They have proposed something which will actually create jobs, grow federal, state, and local revenues with no tax increase, and speed the production of American energy.

Since the vast majority of Americans favor an American energy policy for economic and national security reasons, this bill should be very popular with Democrats, Republicans, and Independents. Senators Webb and Warner introduced legislation last month that would force the federal government to move forward with offshore drilling in Virginia in an area still known as Lease Sale 220. The Obama Administration has postponed any decision on this area to at least 2017.

Interesting how Newt is reaching across the aisle to attract Democrats. I think this approach will be interesting to watch because a lot of Democrats are sickened at the president. Newt is adept at making divided gov’t work as he did in the 90s. He wants measures taken now to address problems facing the country. He is solutions oriented and always has been. While the rest are saying “Vote for me,” he is talking strategy to fix things now. The media will keep attacking him and I wouldn’t be surprised if he runs 3rd Party. A lot of the folks are on to the media. Romney isn’t going to resonate with the Tea Party and Newt will win every debate he enters so hang on to your hats. Newt is Perot on steroids;-) and Perot got 1/3 of the popular vote which elected Clinton. A Ham sandwich will beat Obama. Nobody is talking about this yet, but a lot of Tea Party people like Newt. Young Bachman and Palin have light resumes and get a lot of attention, but lack depth of experience. Perry is likely to overtake the Republican Party so Newt may have to go 3rd Party to get on the stage. It is fascinating to watch the democratic process. What do you think? If given a choice between Romney/Perry or Obama or Gingrich the one who wins the debates, has written 25 books, and can tell a story like the best teacher you ever had, might win. Contract with America #2 will certainly generate a firestorm of interest. He has been saving his money for a reason and his consultants were no big loss. He has baggage, but who doesn’t. At least he doesn’t deny his baggage and he has done more to educate the citizens of America about their history than any person alive. Hopefully, he can find his birth certificate. Maybe his X who he divorced while she was dying of Cancer will appear for an interview;-) and all the other candidates will run out of money by the time we get to crunch time. It could happen;-) Could you vote for a Gingrich-Petraeus Ticket in 2012? How’s that for cutting edge analysis, Dick Morris?

“Newt is reaching across the aisle to attract Democrats”

And the Dems will chew that arm off and spit it back in his face.
