You dont get elected Governor of the most conservative state in the union three times if youre not doing a good job. Perry has a solid conservative executive governing record for the last 11 years. Hes worked hard to keep his state competitive in creating jobs, keeping taxes low with restraints on spending. Along with serious tort reform and reductions in regulations.
If he became potus Perry would govern as a fiscal conservative and reign in spending and regulations. With a GOP Congress on his side Perry would also lower taxes, then work on real entitlement and tax reform. Those policies and rolling back Obamacare would set in motion serious economic growth that would help to create jobs everywhere in America.
Perry supports a strong military and national defense, lower taxes and less spending, limited govt, tax-tort-regulation and entitlement reform, is pro-life, pro-gun, pro-traditional marriage, pro-family, pro-Constitution, opposes blanket amnesty and has worked to secure the Tex-Mex border. Now he wants the Feds to finish the job that Texas started.
Perry is a Reagan conservative. All the way.
No.
Not sure Texas is, as you put it, “the most conservative state in the union.” We’re a mixed bag, especially around Austin and in the Valley.
We’re an independent bunch and don’t mind thumbing our nose at Washington and doing things right for ourselves, but there’s a healthy mix of libertarianism and orneryness that flavors that “conservatism” to which you refer. Mostly, we want the feds to leave us alone, and Perry’s greatest achievement has been in sassing Washington.
On in-state matters, he gets a C minus at best. He’s backstabbed us on many issues. My pet peeve has been his dogged resistance to eminent domain reform. Perry has demonstrated that he thinks in Kelo terms.
And Perry got elected three times, not because he’s done such a good job, but rather because the Dems are so weak here that he has had no viable opposition.
He so angered his conservative base over the Trans-Texas Corridor that he won re-election in 2006 without a majority of the vote, just on a plurality.
Texan here, who will vote for Perry only if I have to.
“You dont get elected Governor of the most conservative state in the union three times if youre not doing a good job. Perry has a solid conservative executive governing record for the last 11 years. “
You mean the most conservative state that gave us George W Bush and his Father George H W Bush?
Oh and earlier in the last century the state that gave us LBJ, probably one of the most destructive presidents this country has seen.
Seems like they may have a problem distinguishing an establishment/rino republican from REAL conservatives.
“You dont get elected Governor of the most conservative state in the union three times if youre not doing a good job.”
unless your primary opponets are as weak as KBH (or worse), and your general electyion opponet is a run of the mill Democrat.
Electorial success doesn’t prove Conservative credentials, else we would be shouting out Olympia Snowe’s “conservatism..........”
Give us all a break, the Texas gov., even while running for office against KBH had to seek help from real Conservatives to ge re-elected, because his first administrations didn’t make the case you say it did. Guess clothespin sales peaked in Texas in 2010.
