He doesn't claim to know her post-presidential campaign plans, but fellow Minnesotan Norm Coleman, a Romney backer, believes Rep. Michele Bachmann has what it takes to be vice president.
"She could serve well," he says of the Minnesota lawmaker who once led the polls for the Iowa caucus. "I think she's helped herself in this process."
Bachmann isn't reconsidering her future other than believing she is positioned for a comeback against Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney in the GOP primaries.
But even her critics are giving Bachmann good grades for her campaign, debate performances and fund raising despite some early missteps.
Coleman, who spoke to reporters at a roundtable sponsored by the Christian Science Monitor says, "Ultimately, she has benefited from national exposure. I think she's handled herself extraordinarily well in the debates, she has exceeded a lot of expectations."
What's more, he adds, Bachmann has excelled at fund raising and kept her strong group of energized voters, two things a presidential nominee would want in a vice presidential pick.
If she was picked, Bachmann would be the second female GOP vice presidential nominee in a row, following her friend Sarah Palin who was selected in 2008 by Sen. John McCain.
A similar tactic worked for McCain. There were a number of people who voted GOP on account of Palin’s presence on the ticket. I’m one of ‘em. Won’t get fooled again.
Where does everyone get the dumb Bass idea that the VP comes from the field of candidates for Pres? That almost never happens. Whoever wins is almost sure to pick a governor of a critical state if they know what they’re doing.
How did it work? Have I been in a coma and John McCain is in the White House? It just made his defeat less than it would’ve been with Liebermann or Romney as his running mate. Cancelling the campaign to go work on TARP is what put the final nail in McCain’s coffin, not anything Gov. Palin did. And Michele is no Sarah! Just because they’re both female doesn’t mean there are any other similarities. Rep. Bachmann doesn’t have a day of executive experience! She’s a backbencher in the House, at best.
...and we were also told in 2008 by some Freepers that if we stayed home and let 0bummer win we would get the Next Reagan because the population would be so disgusted. How is that prop working out?
A Romney ticket could use a federal legislator in second position. I say the same for a Palin or Perry led ticket.
Eh, I don’t see Bachman in anyone’s VP slot. Romney might consider it for “conservative cred”, but people would see it for the cynical ploy that it is. And I just don’t see Cain, Gingrich or Perry taking her. I might be wrong, but that’s my gut feeling.
I think it more likely at this point Bachman might land a cabinet post in some GOP administration than the second slot on a ticket.
Bachmann, sorry. (Guess I had BTO on the brain)
Elections have become like pro wrestling matches ...fixed before the match even starts . Amazing how many people still think their vote makes a difference . It’s not WHO votes ; it’s who counts the votes . The Repubs are in cahoots with the Rats ; they sleep in the same sleazy hotel and drink at the same two bit bar . A majority of the sheeple are too dumb to even figure it out or care .
I’ve said it before. I’ll say it again. Once we realize we have a one party system then we can set about fixing it.
Why would Coleman’s views carry any weight? After all, he couldn’t even beat an unfunny so-called “comedian” in his re-election bid.
Does he want Michelle Bachman’s seat???
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.
They better hope so because that’s the only thing that will make Romney remotely palatable.
On the other hand, anything goes in a nation where tea partiers are treating Gingrich like some great savior when he’s actually a repudiation of everything the tea party “claims” to stand for.

Romney can pick Sarah and I won’t vote for him. Mr. Slick thinks we’ll all fall in line when he picks a TEA Party VP. Not this voter, Myth.
I think most people will do whatever the rest of the herd does.
The GOP nominee will select a VP who can deliver a major swing state, OH, PA, FL........
That’s NOT Bachmann!
John Kasich? Marco Rubio? Eric Cantor?
