“So the Mormons do have some fealty with the historic figure Jesus Christ”

If you knew anything at all about Mormonism, you could not make that statement at all.

Holy roller you say..

Hmmmmm.....

Who’s a “holy roller” to you? Baptists? Lutherans? Catholics?

...like me...

So Mitt also believes in using God as a vehicle for a tax-exempt motivational speaking gig?

“Looks to me like Osteen doesn’t know the difference between Jesus the Word who created this world and is God or Jesus the created brother of angels or Jesus the Mexican guy down the street.”

You know, I have been condemned to hell so many times on this site, I lost count. But your statement takes the cake. My Church believes that Jesus Christ is the only-begotten Son of God; that Jesus Christ is the Great Jehovah of the Old Testament and the Savior and Redeemer of the New Testament; the Holy Ghost ever lives to draw us closer to the Father and the Son. Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church.

When I watch Pastor Osteen’s program I have a witness of the Holy Ghost in my heart. It’s OK if you don’t believe me but please do not take it upon yourself to condemn people to hell; that is way above your pay grade.

Pastor Joel Osteen is a wonderful young man, a strong Christian, with a strong Testimony of the Gospel; he has a great family and he is a very good example. It is sad to see so many FReepers attack his character and his good name, not to mention his testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Very sad indeed.

Sandy you repeat this “I am being condemned to hell” crap all the time. It simply is not true, no one has said that. No one goes to hell except by their own free will, it is a choice we all must make - one way or the other - it is your choice no one else’s.

This is the feel good, everything is rosie and don’t rock the boat saying anything controversial ministry. This guy is no doubt a natural communicator, but he is a bit more polished and less shifty than the other TV evagelists from Jimmy Swaggart to the Bakers.

—throw Islam into that mixture, sit back and wait.-

I confess that it did not hit me, until after 9/11 that the “false religion” of the tribulation could be Islam.

And before 1948, nobody thought that the Israel of end times prophesy would be a real nation called Israel. It was pretty much inconceivable. Yet, here we are.

At least nobody has called Pastor Osteen a communist. Pleasantly surprised, me.

Why does he have the “O/Globe” on his stage instead of a Cross? Why doesn’t he use actual scripture quotes? How come he shows the Bible in the opening act but puts it away during his “service?”

I moved to Kentucky from Seattle a few months ago. A baptist ex-pastor friend of mine told me that although all the Baptist churches here are pretty much packed (and there are a lot of them), the ignorance is staggering.

He said that when he started pastoring a church here, most of the congregation, lifelong churchgoers, did not know the difference between the old and new testaments.

I can call myself the Queen of England... that doesn't make it true.

Just like Mormons can keep lying about being Christians.

Posts like that give FR a bad name.

And Pimping Romney gives pro-life Conservative Republicans a bad name.

I watched Osteen a few times, and that was all I needed.
The Gospel was MIA. It was all this feel-good, smarmy, name-it-claim-it dribble.

It was a wonderful message for “itching ears”.
