Gee you guys are hard on Herman. He is relevant, no, not as the perceived anti-obama conservative outsider but as a man with keen insight. Whoa! Wait a damn minute before you blow that fuse! When he pats your guy on the back or otherwise makes an impact on your candidate he will again be relevant in your eyes. Herman has certainly done more for the cause than any keyboard punching constitutional lawyer wannbe here at Freep.
Yes I could see through Herman’s campaign early on and chose to voice that. In over his head, period. Now that the inevitable has come to pass, his dropping out, why is he such a target? I personally like the man. Is he to sit by and watch now. Give me a break.
People spent a lot of time, and sent in a lot of money, for Cain. They invested a lot of effort into defending him against all the various charges and attacks, explaining how his lack of experience was a good thing, how experience was a bad thing, and how campaign mistakes were endearing rather than disqualifying.
It took a lot out of them, including some self-respect, but they would sacrifice anything for the “Pizza Man”, because he understood the fight and was in it to win it.
Except then he quit on them. I think they have some right to their anger and frustration.
I like Cain, too. Both personally and as a political thinker. I think it’s too bad that he withdrew, but the level of hate he had directed at him would be too much for me to take, so I can’t blame him for deciding it was too much for him.
